Position Overview:
In this role, you will be an integral part of the Payroll & Benefits team, delivering excellent support and impeccable customer service to over 27,000 internal team members, over 22,000 retirees, and many more external customers across Canada. Working alongside the larger HR Operations team, as one of two specialists, you will help by:
- Delivering superior team member experiences by providing payroll expertise and guidance to all stakeholders.
- Bridging the gap between systems and people by being the business process expert of the various HR tools and providing ongoing coaching to payroll and benefit administrators.
- Bringing a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement by challenging the status quo and implementing process improvements.
- Ensuring the integrity of overall data through audits, automation, and a focus on safeguarding the quality of work.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will:

Act as an expert in your field:
- Managing the day-to-day entry of executive monthly and quarterly payrolls, including payroll submissions and queries.
- Serving as a technical resource for all payroll and benefits-related matters.
- Assisting with the maintenance of payroll and benefits business processes.
- Ensuring data integrity for all team member pay and benefits data.
- Supporting audit preparation and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Be an engaging communicator:
- Collaborating effectively with the national team.
- Building relationships with stakeholders supported through deliverables within the P&C Operations team.
- Working with senior leaders to manage escalations and identify efficiency opportunities.
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of payroll and benefits experience with both federally and provincially regulated Canadian payrolls.
- Experience with the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenue Québec.
- Knowledge of payroll financial accounting principles.
- Strong payroll systems experience (SAP payroll is an asset).
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French, both written and oral, is considered a strong asset.
Required Knowledge:
- Awareness of all areas within HR, especially operational in nature.
- Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and Employment Standards, rules, and laws.
- Strong systems expertise with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and SAP HR.
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources and/or an equivalent combination of payroll and benefits education and experience.
- CPA/CPM designation is an asset.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
- Benefits designation is an asset.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$41.26 and CA$41.26
