Business Decision Support  Analyst

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Business Decision Support Analyst for their Burnaby location.

Overview:

The Business  Decision Support  Analyst will work with the Commercial Management Group to evaluate new potential capital projects, develop business cases  and make recommendations to corporate  management on what new projects the company should pursue
Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze business requirements to support decision-making for business operations and projects.
  • Support business case development for complex projects by reviewing alternatives, providing financial analysis, arranging executive review, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Translate business insights into strategic, actionable options by obtaining and organizing key business information, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate decision-making across diverse groups of stakeholders by using excellent skills in communication, critical thinking, and persuasive influencing to deliver recommendations that align to the business goals.
  • Maintain meaningful business relationships by prioritizing strategic considerations in a complex environment with diverse groups of stakeholders so that projects are implemented as planned.
  • Plan and organize business initiatives by using expert knowledge in business drivers, risk tolerance, and trade-off processes, to enable successful integration and adoption in complex and regulated environment.
  • Translate business insights into strategic, actionable options for Demand Side Management (DSM) initiatives by facilitating the gathering and modeling of key business information to inform decision making.
  • Contribute to the development of decision-making standards by using expert knowledge in industry trends and practices, to enable consistent principle-based decision-making
  • Ensure that the purpose, justification, and cash flow profile of proposed capital spending is aligned with the capital plan and meets both short and long-term strategies.

Experience

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of business analysis and/or management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline
  • MBA is an asset
  • Financial Analysis experience is considered an asset
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
  • Ability to translate business insights and develop business cases
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and manage large scale, highly complex projects
  • Strong understanding of the electric utility business, an asset
  • Ability to easily work with staff of all levels including senior management
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Structured Decision Making, an asset

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$100.75 and CA$124.50
