Position Title: Capital Markets – Business Analyst – IT

Story Behind the Need
Business group: Global Compliance Control Room is a global capital markets compliance team that supports US, UK, Canadian and APAC markets. The group monitors GBM trade positions to comply with global regulations.
Project: The project team is implementing a third-party trade position monitoring solution.
Regulatory project driven by US regulation, focusing on bank’s capital market positions.
Candidate Value Proposition:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with multiple business lines globally, while utilizing new technology (i.e. ElasticSearch, Kafka). Opportunity to work on multiple work assignments involving various middle office and Backoffice applications and various asset classes.
Typical Day in Role:
- Support the implementation of technology solution for capital markets trade position monitoring.
- Participate in the systems implementation process by defining business requirements and processes, developing test strategies and test cases, performing testing, developing conversion and implementation strategies, verifying conversion, providing user documentation and post-implementation support.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of deliverables through effective engagement with business users.
- Liaison with upstream and downstream system owners to understand the format and semantic content of data.
- Preparation of technical specifications and documentation for all the business requirements.
- Partnering with Development to ensure system requirements are realized while following standards and methodologies
- Working with large volume of data, scripting with SQL and Python is used to help analyze the regular data being fed through.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- Overall 8+ years as a BA, recent 5+ years must be in Capital Markets
- Solid working knowledge of Capital Markets products such as equities, equity derivatives & collateral trading.
- Must have 5+ years of experience in reviewing and understanding data, create / design transformation logics for ETL, and collaborate with different stakeholders to understand the data source and vendors to move data according to vendor expectations
- Excellent communication skills to be able to take oral and written business requirements and translate them to technology solutions.
- Proficient in using SQL/Python to Tweak the code as needed.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- SQL/Python programming skills is a plus.
- Possess a very good understanding of current IT practices, systems development techniques especially requirements specification and testing methodologies and keep current with rapidly changing technology
- middle office and Backoffice applications experience
- Top 6 bank experience.
Soft Skills Required:
- Excellent problem-solving skills.

- Self-starter, quick learner
Education & Certificates:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Math, Finance, Computer science, Computer engineering or related field required
Best VS. Average Candidate:
A good candidate will be a seasoned BA who is able to refer to past projects in interview to demonstrate transferable skills or knowledge. A successful candidate will not need hand holding and will be able to use their current BA experience to pick up on assignments quickly and take ownership of their work. Needs to take initiative while doing the integration and learn about the system so that they understand how their work interacts with the system and understand the business needs. Create / design transformation logics for ETL.
Interview:
1st round – HM & Senior HM & team member – MS teams – 60mins – (experience, behavioral, technical questions)
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75.00 and CA$85.00
