About the Role
We are looking for a caring, dependable, and engaging Child Care Teacher to join a hospital-based childcare team. This position will work with children from six weeks to six years of age and will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
The Child Care Teacher will work as part of a teaching team and utilize the Reggio-inspired approach to develop creative and age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor development.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities
• Provide a safe, secure, nurturing, and engaging environment for children
• Support children's cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor development
• Document children's daily activities, progress, and observations
• Communicate with parents regarding children's development and daily experiences
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and follow infection control and safety procedures
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers within the classroom
• Support both indoor and outdoor learning activities
• Promote independence, confidence, self-esteem, and positive social interactions
• Maintain accurate records and reports for assigned children
• Follow all applicable licensing, accreditation, regulatory, and safety requirements
• Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and required training
• Collaborate with teachers, team leaders, supervisors, and families
• Help maintain a smooth transition for children and families into and out of the classroom
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
• Previous experience working with children ages six weeks to six years
• Two years of formal experience preferred
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Psychology, or a closely related field preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 40 hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and reasoning skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interactions with children, families, and staff
• Ability to work in an active and sometimes noisy childcare environment
• Ability to frequently bend, climb, and move throughout the classroom and play areas
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with infants and toddlers, particularly children six weeks to two years old
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate
• Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
