Civil / Structural Engineer

Overview

Seeking a senior Civil/Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support on a major power-generation infrastructure project. This role will focus on structural analysis, design modifications, engineering assessments, field support, and change management activities associated with large-scale facility upgrades. The successful candidate will work closely with construction, procurement, commissioning, and project management teams to ensure safe and compliant project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced civil and structural engineering analyses, calculations, and evaluations in support of project execution activities.
  • Assess existing structures and develop engineering solutions to accommodate project modifications and construction requirements.
  • Prepare and review engineering change documentation, technical reports, calculations, and supporting design packages.
  • Provide technical support to construction teams, including evaluation of field issues and development of engineering resolutions.
  • Review and approve design revisions, construction-driven changes, and associated technical documentation.
  • Support project commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate technical activities with vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical oversight where required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to engineering processes and methodologies.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical issues to project leadership and key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 8–10 years of progressive engineering experience supporting industrial, infrastructure, energy, or major capital projects.
  • Strong background in structural steel and reinforced concrete analysis and design.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical assessments, and change management documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and technical decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for professional registration.
  • Experience supporting large, multidisciplinary capital projects.
  • Familiarity with regulated industries such as power generation, utilities, energy, industrial processing, or heavy infrastructure.
  • Experience coordinating field engineering activities and supporting construction execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based engineering activities and field support responsibilities.
  • Requires regular interaction with technical, construction, and management personnel.
  • Ability to perform site visits and support construction activities as needed.
  • Occasional physical activity may be required, including walking project sites and accessing active work areas.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$85.00
