The Data Architect will be responsible for designing and maintaining the enterprise data warehouse for various projects, while also providing ongoing support for activities that impact all enterprise databases. They will work within a high-performing team to design, build, optimize, and maintain innovative solutions on Microsoft Azure’s Data Platform, using cutting-edge cloud services. Additionally, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring data integrity, enabling effective, accurate, and timely generation of all enterprise reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of robust and scalable data architectures across enterprise, with an initial focus on data lakes/warehouses, data pipelines, and master data management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Create data architecture artifacts and own the architecture governance and practices.
- Define and design innovative Data & Analytics architectures and solutions that leverage the right trade-off between clients’ realities, latest and disruptive technologies, current and future business needs, budget constraints, data availability, and resource requirements.
- Oversee the design of the data lake/warehouse infrastructure, ensuring it meets the organization’s scalability, security, and performance requirements.
- Promote and implement best practices for data lake/warehouse governance, metadata management, and data catalogues.
- Design and optimize end-to-end data pipelines for efficient data flow and integration, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Work closely with data engineers, BI engineers, and reporting analysts to streamline the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Define and implement master data management strategies to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of critical business data.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, consistency, and processes across the organization.
- Evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies for different components of the data architecture.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- A track record of at least 12 years in Data Architect and Data modernization within a Cloud Data Warehouse environment, specifically in Azure.
- Demonstrated expertise in crafting, constructing, and validating data pipelines that integrate data from diverse sources into a centralized data platform or Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- You have good understanding of the different data architecture patterns: Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Data Warehouse, Data Marts, data modeling, ontologies & knowledge graphs, MicroServices
- Experience building Microsoft Azure, SQL Databases/Data Warehouses is an asset.
- The ability to recognize and delineate data gaps and challenges when engaged in data migration efforts during system implementations.
- 10+years of DBA experience with MS SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services, and SQL Server Integration Services
- 10+ years’ experience with data architecting, large-scale data modelling, and business intelligence.
- Demonstrates experience in implementing enterprise data management, processes, procedures, and decision support.
- Strong proficiency with Python; Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Pandas, and/or Apache Spark
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
