Position Title: COBOL Developer
Location: Scarborough, ON
Duration: 4 months
             
Story behind the need
Business group: CB Technology
Canadian Banking Engineering oversees changes/implementations to financial client programs.
Projects:
You will provide analysis and coding support for host/mainframe applications and infrastructure implementations. They should be able to understand, document and share key system information with their colleagues, support groups, other technical staff, business partners and management.

Typical day in a role:

  • Working within a cross-functional team of Developers, Product Owners, and technical experts to understand requirements that drive the design and implementation of technical solutions.
  • Work with architecture groups on design proposals, development, and maintenance of applications.
  • Address technical issues on projects; pro-actively engaging project team and clients with concerns.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on and apply new technologies and processes.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • 10 years of experience in host/mainframe development – COBOL, JCL is a must have.
  • 5+ years of work experience with ACF, Endevor, DB2 and IMS
  • Must be fluent in English, oral and written.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience in the financial industry.
  • Experience in mainframe development such as CA7, SAS, CICS is nice to have
  • Worked in Agile lab or used Agile framework.
  • Experience in Java, Azure is an asset.

Soft Skills Required:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and is capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives.
  • Must be reliable, pro-active, results-oriented, customer-focused, attentive to details, and a team player.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can build and foster relationships with team members and peers.
  • Should have great interpersonal skills.

Education & Certificates:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Best VS. Average Candidate:
Prior client experience will be beneficial.
Interview schedule:
1st round – 30 mins – teams – HM and panel (Technical and soft skills)
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$85.00 and CA$95.00
