Job Title: Construction Manager Fixed Wireless

Our client is a Fiber and 5G broadband company for rural living. They have become one of the country’s largest facilities-based telecommunications providers for residential and business customers. The client is building a world-class Fiber optic and 5G wireless network to enable innovative broadband services for today and future generations. We are seeking to hire a experienced construction Manager for the build currently underway in the Western region of Canada. Namely Saskatchewan and Alberta. This is a twelve month contract to start and has a strong chance to be extended for more term based on successful performance. This is a dynamic team.
The role:
The Wireless Construction Manager collaborates with the project manager to manage the day-to-day operations of telecommunications construction projects. You will work closely with the field implementation team and direct subcontractors performing the building, installation, maintenance, and testing of wireless telecommunications towers and other network infrastructure. As a wireless construction manager, your duties are to supervise the technical crew, act as a job site representative, coordinate with utility companies, handle negotiations for bids, prepare contracts, RFPs and troubleshoot problems as they arise. Individual must be willing to adapt to flexible work schedule from time to time especially for cutover events.
Essential Job duties:
Collaborate with project management, site acquisition, engineering, supply chain and operations primes to prioritize and schedule project deliverables. 20% of time spent
Owning the general contractor relationship and managing general contractor workload to deliver projects safely and efficiently while remaining on-time and on-budget. 20%
Inspect and review contractor work to ensure compliance with client standards, CAN/CSA-S37 standards, contract documents, project drawings and site design parameters. 10%
Produce Request for Quote bid packages for General Contractor’s to respond to. Complete BID analysis and award work. 20%
Ensure all change orders/requests between team members and contractor representatives are properly documented (i.e., verbal agreement followed up with a PO immediately). 5%
On-site visits during acquisition / planning phase to develop site plans that best fit with client's deployment practices. 10%
Host Pre-Construction meetings to Produce method of procedure documents (MOP) detailing steps required to accomplish work in accordance with best practices and change management policies. 15%
Minimum Knowledge
• Effective written, verbal and listening communications skills
• Able to perform at a high pace and under pressure
• Good knowledge of wireless telecommunications networks and infrastructure
• Knowledge of permitting and other construction requirements
• Working knowledge of all applicable Acts, Regulations and Codes
• An in depth understanding of the various disciplines involved in the site construction process
• Ability to breakdown complex tasks into easy to follow steps to document clear methods of procedure
• Experience with change management.
• Telecommunications construction knowledge
• Able to read & interpret construction contracts
• Able to read & interpret engineered drawings
• Able to prepare cost estimates and schedules
• Ability to effectively and appropriately delegate work load
• Ability to make decisions
• Ability to manage time effectively
• High attention to detail
• 2-5 Years of Experience in the construction of wireless Telecommunication sites
• 2-5 Years of experience working with vendors and general contractors on construction projects
• Experience preparing, writing and managing construction and supply RFP documents
• Experience with wireline construction
• Project management experience
• Understanding of IP networks
• Understanding of wireless network components
• Completion of related post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$45.00 and CA$50.00
