Position Title: Data Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Project: This role is ideal for a seasoned data analyst with expertise in delivering robust data solutions and repositories, leveraging cutting-edge data governance technologies. The primary focus will be on defining the technology domain, identifying authoritative global sources of technology data, classifying data assets, cataloguing critical data elements and their lineage, and ensuring high standards of data quality. The role also requires a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements related to data governance, supporting compliance with all regulatory and audit mandates. The technology data is centered on optimizing operations to mitigate risk, enhance resilience, and ensure reliability in technology management.

Typical Day in Role:

  • Completes prioritized tasks and analysis to advance data governance within technology including all audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Advances the increased saturation of data governance across technology operations.
  • Works with the delivery teams and Data Office on properly cataloging Critical Data Elements (CDEs). This includes identifying data sources, mapping data/information flows, documenting data lineage, outlining data and payload models, clarifying transformation logic and influencing data model development.
  • Performs data profiling, analyzes, and communicates results in support of data quality processes.
  • Identifies important data gaps and suggests solutions, including the creation of metadata models and business glossaries.
  • Manages complex data analyses in working with both structured and unstructured data, including collating disparate data sets from many sources.
  • Documents end to end data flows and lineage from capture at source, to storage, to delivery and its business intent at each stage (i.e., capture, transformation, fragmentation, editing)
  • Conducts dimensional modelling, metadata management, data wrangling, data cleaning and conforming, and warehouse querying.
  • Facilitates technology discussions, solutioning processes, and decision making with multiple groups including technology teams and across client business areas, risk teams, and audit teams.
  • Considers the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with client’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports and recommending actions.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience working as a senior contributor in a data focused team.
  • 5+ working with data governance, data management frameworks, cataloging CDEs, and tracing / managing data lineage.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading meetings and creating presentation decks for various technical, business, and risk / compliance audiences. Skilled in summarizing and provides insights from complicated processes.
  • 2+ years operational Technology Experience and understands the concepts of Technology Risk, Resilience, and Reliability.
  • 2+ years’ experience IT operations or IT Risk This includes ServiceNow or other ITSM solutions.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish with strong communication skills.
  • Experience in Data Warehouse development/engineering using Python ETL, SQL, and Power BI, with Google Cloud expertise preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in predictive analysis and machine learning, leveraging open-source data integration tools like Airflow, NiFi, and Prefect.
  • Expertise in NoSQL data storage and integration for BI reporting.
  • Knowledge of IT and Data Governance, including COBIT framework and Cyber Security reporting.
  • Familiarity with Agile environments, with additional experience in Splunk, D3, or Case Management Systems being a plus.

Soft Skills Required:

  • Above average written and spoken English includes the ability to synthesize complex ideas from various sources.
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills that allow you to build consensus and obtain co-operation from both support teams and senior management.
  • Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving abilities, while also effectively collaborating with team members.
  • Possesses a keen ability to design and interpret data visualizations to support decision-making.

Education/ Certifications:

  • Certification in data or data management.
  • ITIL V3/V4 certification (preferred).
  • Certification in risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.

Best VS. Average Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data governance and data development, including expertise with ETL processes, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric. They will have excellent English language proficiency, exceptional presentation abilities, and be fluent in Spanish. Additionally, they should showcase a proven capacity for self-prioritization and the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision.
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$77.00
