Supporting critical banking applications at backend in oracle database, supporting global groups with different time zone.
Project: Supporting multiple ongoing and new projects

Typical Day in Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of our database systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with a focus on security and audit projects, and extensive hands-on experience with Oracle technologies.
Spend a significant portion of the day monitoring and tuning database performance. This includes analyzing performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations.

  • Work on security and audit projects, ensuring that all database systems comply with industry standards and regulations. This involves regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and implementing necessary security measures.
  • Manage and support Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Data Guard configurations. This includes setting up, configuring, and maintaining these systems to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control (13c) for monitoring and managing database environments. Document the capacity and usage in past roles.
  • Work with Oracle Exadata systems, specifying the capacity and usage in previous roles. This includes setup, configuration, and ongoing support.
  • Perform database upgrades and migrations across different operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, Windows, and AIX.
  • Create and upgrade Oracle databases (versions 12c, 19c, and 23c). Ensure databases are optimized and running efficiently.
  • Manage Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Recovery Manager (RMAN) for backup, restore, and data pump export/import operations.
  • Provide rotational L1 and L2 production support, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Set up and manage databases in cloud environments, leveraging Oracle Golden Gate for data integration and replication.
  • Regularly interact with executives to provide updates on database performance, security status, and ongoing projects.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience as Database admin with recent 5+ years in Security and audit projects handling database performance tuning. If the candidate is forming FI & banking domain, its an asset.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with RAC (Real Application Cluster) – setup, configure and support
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Data Guard– Database replication tools, setup, configure and support
  • Familiar with OEM/Grid Control (13c) -please specify in what capacity, and in which past employer
  • Working experience with Oracle Exadata -please specify in what capacity and in which past employer

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Installation – Database upgrades/migrations on different OS Solaris, Linux, Windows. AIX is nice to have
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Database creation and upgrade of Oracle database versions 12c & 19c & 23ai
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Automatic Storage Management (ASM) – setup, configure and support
  • 5+ years of experience with RMAN, RMAN Catalog, backup, restore and Data Pump export/Import.
  • Ability to provide 24×7 production support (L1 & L2) – rotational shift
  • Oracle Golden Gate
  • Database setup in a Cloud environment
  • Oracle Certifications
  • Experience working with executives

Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong Communication Skills – Verbal/written

Education & Certificates:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field

Best VS. Average Candidate:
Database admin in Security and audit projects handling database performance tuning – FI & Banking experience.
Interview:
One round – MS teams – Video interview – 90mins – HM & another manager – Technical skills and soft skill – might include writing SQL quires.
