Delivery Lead – Description
Role Summary
The Delivery Lead is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of data management and engineering initiatives within the Data Management & Engineering Team. This role acts as a technical product manager for data solutions—partnering closely with business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, usable data capabilities, while leading delivery teams to build, deploy, and operate those solutions.
The Delivery Lead ensures that delivered solutions are not only technically sound, but are fit-for-purpose, adopted by intended users, and continuously improved based on usage and feedback, not simply delivered.
Key Accountabilities
1. End-to-End Delivery Ownership (Accountable)

  • Own delivery of assigned data initiatives from intake through design, build, deployment, and transition to steady-state operations
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable delivery plans and technical outcomes
  • Ensure delivery against scope, timelines, and quality standards
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and delivery issues, with escalation where required

2. Technical Product Leadership (Accountable)

  • Define and maintain the technical product vision for data integrations and data solutions within assigned initiatives
  • Partner with Business stakeholders to align on priorities, outcomes, and roadmap sequencing
  • Break down initiatives into deliverable components (epics, features, work packages) with clear acceptance criteria
  • Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, reusability, and alignment to enterprise data architecture

3. Team Leadership & Delivery Execution (Accountable)

  • Lead cross-functional delivery teams (data engineers, data analysts, architects, cloud operations, etc.)
  • Provide clear direction, priorities, and accountability to delivery resources
  • Ensure effective sprint/iteration planning, backlog management, and delivery tracking
  • Remove blockers and enable teams to deliver efficiently

4. Operational Ownership & Stability (Accountable)

  • Oversee transition from project delivery into ongoing operations
  • Ensure monitoring, support processes, and issue management are in place for delivered solutions
  • Partner with operations teams to maintain reliability, performance, and data quality
  • Drive resolution of production issues and continuous improvement

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment (Responsible)

  • Act as the primary delivery contact for business and technology stakeholders
  • Provide transparent reporting on progress, risks, and outcomes
  • Ensure alignment across business stakeholders, architecture, platform, and downstream consumers
  • Support executive and SteerCo updates as needed

6. Governance, Standards & Compliance (Responsible)

  • Ensure all solutions adhere to data governance, security, and regulatory requirements
  • Enforce alignment to enterprise data models, integration patterns, and platform standards
  • Support audit and regulatory reporting requirements where applicable

7. Continuous Improvement (Responsible)

  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery practices, tooling, and team effectiveness
  • Drive adoption of standardized delivery approaches across the hub
  • Incorporate lessons learned into future initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • Delivery Leadership Under Pressure – Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight timelines in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
  • Hands-On Technical Delivery Experience – Strong foundational experience as a senior analyst, data engineer, or developer, with the ability to engage deeply in solution design, troubleshoot issues, and guide teams through complex delivery challenges
  • Operational Mindset & Ownership – Experience supporting and operating data solutions in production environments, with a clear understanding of what is required to ensure solutions are stable, supportable, and sustainable post-delivery
  • End-to-End Delivery & Execution – Ability to translate business needs into structured delivery plans and drive execution from concept through to deployed, operational solutions
  • Technical Acumen (Data & Integration) – Solid understanding of data platforms, pipelines, and integration patterns (e.g., APIs, ETL/ELT, streaming), enabling effective decision-making and oversight
  • Team Leadership & Motivation – Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, particularly in high-pressure situations, maintaining focus, accountability, and momentum through delivery challenges
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication – Strong ability to engage stakeholders, provide clear direction, and communicate progress, risks, and outcomes effectively
  • Product-Oriented Delivery Experience – Experience operating within a product-based or hybrid product/delivery model, with an understanding of how to align delivery to product outcomes, priorities, and value realization
  • Modern Data Platform Exposure – Familiarity with modern data ecosystems, including cloud data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouse solutions, and how they support scalable data products and integrations
  • Agile & Iterative Delivery Practices – Experience working within Agile or iterative delivery frameworks, with the ability to adapt delivery approaches to evolving requirements and priorities
  • Regulated Environment Awareness – Exposure to regulated environments, with an understanding of the implications for data governance, controls, and compliance in solution delivery and operations

Success Measures

  • Delivery of initiatives on time, within scope, and meeting quality expectations
  • Adoption and stability of delivered data solutions
  • Reduction in delivery risks, issues, and rework
  • Improved alignment between business outcomes and technical delivery

Effective operation and support of deployed solutions
