Job Title: Design Team Lead

Location: Mississauga, ON
    
Estimated Duration: 12 Months

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage the design team through all stages of power generation projects, ensuring designs are in line with operational requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations.

  • ECC Process Oversight: Implement and manage the Engineering Change Control (ECC) process to ensure all design changes are systematically tracked, documented, and approved, minimizing scope creep and maintaining project integrity.

  • Design Coordination: Facilitate collaboration across engineering disciplines, ensuring alignment between internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to meet design specifications and deadlines.

  • Schedule & Budget Management: Monitor design project timelines, control costs, and ensure all deliverables are provided on time and within budget, addressing potential delays or issues as they arise.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison with internal teams, external contractors, and vendors, providing regular updates and ensuring alignment with project goals and expectations.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure design outputs meet stringent quality assurance and safety standards, conducting regular reviews, validation, and verification of design elements.

  • Regulatory & Compliance Management: Ensure all design work complies with applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations, as well as internal standards and policies.


Requirements:

  • Design Team Leadership Experience: Must have prior experience working in design teams, with a strong understanding of design protocols, processes, and operational goals for large-scale power generation or infrastructure projects.

  • DTL Qualification: Currently holds or has previously held a Design Team Lead (DTL) qualification, demonstrating leadership in managing design teams and projects in accordance with established standards.

  • Expertise in Engineering Change Control (ECC): Deep familiarity with the Engineering Change Control (ECC) process, ensuring proper management of design changes, documentation, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Educational & Technical Background: Preferably a Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering background, with experience in the design and execution of large-scale infrastructure and power generation projects.

  • Project Management Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing design teams, schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$80.00
