Position Title: Development / Technical Lead
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 6 months

Story Behind the Need:
Business group: Our Client’s Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) manages the development, execution and performance of the department’s strategy and roadmap. We ensure a stable, secure and efficient infrastructure and service delivery, that protects the customer experience and supports business growth. We lead efforts around performance, optimization and innovation, best practice portfolio management, financial management and transparency, and employee experience excellence.
Project: The Technology Program Office reports into the SPO and is responsible for the delivery of GTEP and CISO Strategic Initiatives. This includes Project/Program Management, Project Life-Cycle Planning, KPI Reporting and Benefits Realization. We provide an end-to-end view of all Global Strategic Programs and liaise with key IT Corporate Functions. Reporting to the Portfolio Director, the Technical Lead will be leading the upgrade and remediation of core technologies within the Bank.

Typical Day in Role:

  • Leading application project teams to deliver solutions
  • Developing functional and technical documents
  • Creating and executing implementation plans
  • Working with technical team members within matrix environments and communicating with stakeholders on an Executive level
  • Working on project end-to-end to define procedure/processes and push changes through delivery
  • Support team initiative to upgrade legacy technologies to new supported versions.

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:

  • Excellent understanding of various protocols, scripting and programming (no specific programming language required)
  • 5-7+ years of experience with designing system, network, and application architectures; both cloud and hybrid technologies
  • 5-7+ years of experience performing impact analysis and identify system interdependencies
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Solutions Architect or similar capacity, proven experience with delivery of technical solutions
  • 5-7+ years’ experience managing technology projects working with high scale, enterprise-wide projects – the candidate must have the ability to drive solution and delivery of project

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Working in enterprise environments
  • Previous exposure to the banking industry/financial services is preferred
  • Working experience with MS Excel
  • Bilingual in Spanish (would be an asset for at least one placement to work with LATAM stakeholders)

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization
  • Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction

Best vs. Average Candidate:

  • Clear, crisp, and tight communication skills are central to this role and will be assessed in interview.
  • Well organized and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence various levels of key stakeholders and push project results forward.
  • A strong technical resource with a background as a solution architect (or similar) who is seeking a role to diversify their skillsets.

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related IT field required
  • Certified Network Technician is an asset
  • PMP Certification is an asset

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$80.00
