Position Overview
As part of our clients electrical engineering team, the incumbent will participate in the design, development, implementation and documentation of marine electrical systems and solutions. The incumbent will gather and analyze information (such as product datasheets, measurements, and descriptions) to produce engineering drawings, recommendations, and instructions for project stakeholders. The incumbent will ensure design processes continually improve to meet the needs of upstream and downstream stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
- Provides electrical engineering and design expertise by preparing design and calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.
- Supports the Engineering Manager by providing mentorship and direction to other junior engineers, designers, or subcontractors.
- Develops and/or reviews design documents to achieve customer, and regulatory approval.
- Develops material specifications and bills of material in accordance with client material strategies and requirements.
- Represents the company to industry to develop understanding of the client's involvement in the electrification of the marine industry and Canada’s Federal Fleet programs and continue to build our reputation.
- Provides direction to suppliers and subcontractors related to the Electrical Systems design to achieve contract, cost and schedule performance.
- Interfaces with stakeholders to determine project scope, requirements, deliverables, budget and schedules
- Corresponding with production and installation workers to clarify design details and receive feedback for improvements
- Professional development, including the pursuit and/or maintenance of professional qualifications and licenses
Position Location
The incumbent will work out of our client's office in North Vancouver and customer sites and be available for collaboration and meetings during normal office hours. There is the likelihood of some travel required for this position with less than 10% of working hours away from the office.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience suitable to the position
- Experience in the design, development and implementation of electrical power conversion systems
- Experience of power generation and distribution and associated technologies
- Project management experience is an asset
Skills:
- Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and across multiple projects
- Ability to manage a diverse workload while prioritizing time and resources
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer relation skills
- Proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, CADMATIC or similar
- Proficient at the intermediate level in the use of MS Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$100,000 and CA$140,000
