Job Title: EMI/EMC Test Engineer (Electrical)
Location: Brampton, ON (onsite/hybrid as required)
Type: 12-month contract
Overview
Our client in the aerospace/space sector is hiring an EMI/EMC Test Engineer to support programs that are entering or actively in the verification and qualification test phase. This is a hands-on role focused on executing EMI/EMC tests, troubleshooting issues, managing lab readiness, and producing high-quality documentation (procedures, plans, reports). Design exposure is helpful, but the priority is proven testing capability.
What you’ll do (core)

Execute EMI/EMC verification and qualification testing of avionics and electromechanical systems, with emphasis on MIL-STD-461

Perform radiated and conducted emissions testing and support susceptibility testing as required

Lead or support end-to-end test activities: test setup, instrumentation configuration, execution, data capture, analysis, and reporting

Troubleshoot emissions issues using near-field probing, bench debugging methods, and structured root-cause approaches

Create and maintain EMC test procedures, test plans, test specifications, and formal test reports

Support pre-compliance testing and recommend mitigations to reduce EMI/EMC risk

Maintain lab readiness: equipment inventory, calibration tracking, procurement coordination, and general lab organization

Collaborate with electrical, systems, mechanical, and program teams to ensure test requirements and schedules are met
Test equipment experience (expected)
-
EMI receiver / spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes, signal/function generators, power amplifiers

Vector network analyzer (VNA) / network analyzer exposure preferred

General bench tools (DMM, probes, fixtures), ESD equipment as applicable
Standards (must)

MIL-STD-461 (required and priority)

DO-160 (strong asset)

IEC 61000 (nice to have)
Automation and tools (nice to have)

Test automation scripting or instrument control (Python, MATLAB, VBA, LabVIEW, SCPI, NI VISA/NI MAX)

Experience with common EMC test platforms (any of: BAT-EMC, EMC32, R&S tools, etc.)

Exposure to HFSS or similar EM simulation is a bonus (not required)
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)

~6–10 years in EMI/EMC testing, avionics verification, or aerospace electrical test environments

Strong documentation and communication skills, able to explain results clearly and defend test methods

Comfortable working in controlled test environments and following strict process requirements

Must be eligible to obtain Reliability Status and meet Controlled Goods requirements (as applicable)
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$70.00
