Electrical Engineer (EGSE Design)

The Position

Our client, a leading aerospace and advanced robotics organization, is seeking an Electrical Engineer at a mid-to-senior engineering level specializing in Analog/Digital/Power EGSE Hardware Design. This role sits within a Robotics and Space Operations division and is based in the Greater Toronto Area (Brampton).

The successful candidate will support the Electrical Engineering Department across a range of programs, including sustained on-orbit operations support, next-generation external robotics systems, planetary and lunar rover programs, and internal R&D initiatives.

Responsibilities

Candidates do not need experience across all areas listed below but should demonstrate solid proficiency in at least Analog, Power, Motor/Motor Controller, and Cable/Test Rack design.

  • Low-noise analog circuit design including sensor front-end amplifiers, filtering, and data acquisition systems (DAQ)
  • High-speed digital and analog board design: schematic entry, circuit simulations, electrical worst-case analysis, parts stress analysis, PWB layout design, and support to Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) drawings
  • Testing and debugging of CCAs at board, unit, and system integration levels
  • Proficient use of test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, TDRs, VNAs, power amplifiers, and function generators
  • DC Brushless/Brushed Motor Driver/Controller, resolver, and encoder design
  • Design and manufacture of test racks and EGSE assemblies including cable harnesses
  • Routine checks and design verification of COTS components within EGSE designs
  • Design of motor control schemes and associated sensors
  • Technical presentations to government and agency stakeholders at design reviews
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

Assets

  • Organized self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with OrCAD Suite
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Visio, and VBA
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages
  • Experience with PCB/CCA manufacturing cycle processes
  • Background in manufacturing and assembly practices
  • Experience in product-based, design-to-cost environments
  • Prior work integrating avionics at large-scale assembly, integration, and test facilities in collaboration with major aerospace primes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer, or Systems Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in an engineering role within space, robotics, or a related technical field (candidates will be leveled based on qualifications and years of experience)
  • Strong oral, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Results-oriented with excellent critical thinking ability
  • Comfortable working in dynamic, requirements-driven environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and team integrity

Special Considerations

Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance at the Reliability Status level and pass a security assessment under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$70.00
