Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer (Industrial / Energy Projects)

Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and oversee the electrical and controls design for capital expansion and maintenance projects within an industrial energy environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that third-party engineering designs meet company standards, industry codes, and project requirements while staying on schedule and within budget.
This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, along with the ability to coordinate across engineering, operations, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage electrical and controls design for capital projects executed by external engineering firms
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal specifications
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and equipment specifications
- Support development of project scope, schedule, cost estimates, and execution plans
- Coordinate closely with project managers, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment
- Provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning phases
- Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations based on technical merit, cost, and delivery
- Identify project risks and ensure mitigation strategies are implemented
- Incorporate lessons learned into future project designs and standards
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering and project environments
- Strong experience with industrial power systems, including:
- 480V and medium-voltage systems (e.g., 4160V)
- Motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, and generators
- Experience with large rotating equipment, such as motors and compressors
- Hands-on experience with controls and instrumentation systems, including:
- PLC-based systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley or similar)
- HMI/SCADA platforms
- Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)
- Experience reviewing and overseeing work performed by third-party engineering firms
- Strong understanding of NEC requirements and hazardous area classifications
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience in oil & gas, pipeline, or heavy industrial environments
- Familiarity with:
- Instrumentation systems (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
- Smart transmitters and control devices
- Cathodic protection systems
- Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and drive continuous improvement

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $70.00 and $75.00
