Overview

A well-established engineering firm in Sudbury is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead electrical design delivery for a diverse portfolio of building services projects. The local engineering group provides mechanical and electrical design services across healthcare, long-term care, institutional, educational, commercial, recreational, light industrial, and multi-residential sectors.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within a collaborative, high-energy office environment. The successful candidate will lead electrical design teams, manage projects and resources, act as a senior technical authority, and work closely with clients, architects, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant building designs.


Your Role

  • Lead and supervise electrical design staff, assigning technical work, providing guidance, and supporting professional development

  • Manage all phases of electrical building services projects, including planning, design, budgeting, scheduling, and delivery

  • Act as the senior electrical technical authority, reviewing designs, establishing documentation standards, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations

  • Oversee project resourcing, departmental budgets, cost forecasting, and workload planning

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders, preparing proposals, technical reports, and coordinating across disciplines

  • Develop and implement technical standards, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project outcomes


About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario (registration in other provinces is considered an asset)

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in building systems engineering, ideally across healthcare, institutional, educational, municipal, and commercial facilities

  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including OBC, NBC, CEC/OESC, ASHRAE 90.1, and relevant CSA and ULC standards

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design leadership, project management, budgeting, and resource planning

  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate engineers and designers

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging directly with clients and project partners

  • Proficient with AutoCAD (Revit and/or MicroStation considered assets) and MS Office

  • Ability or willingness to obtain CAPM or PMP certification is an asset

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$120,000 and CA$160,000
