Job Title: Electrical Planner

Overview
A leading North American infrastructure and energy contractor is seeking an Electrical Planner to support ongoing work at two major nuclear generating stations in Virginia. The position will focus on planning, coordinating, and preparing detailed work packages for maintenance and outage execution within the turbine and secondary-side systems of the facilities.
This is a critical role supporting major life-extension and modernization projects aimed at upgrading plant reliability and extending operational licenses.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, and track both online and outage work orders using MAXIMO.

Prepare detailed work packages, task instructions, and equipment isolation plans.

Conduct constructability reviews and plant walkdowns to verify field conditions.

Create reports, documentation, and historical records in MAXIMO.

Evaluate job scope to determine required disciplines and coordinate with support teams.

Attend coordination and progress meetings with project stakeholders.

Collaborate with Operations to issue isolation requests and ensure procedural compliance.

Provide input on sequencing, commissioning, and work execution strategies.
Project Scope
This role supports the electrical planning function for turbine-building and balance-of-plant systems at both the Surry and North Anna Nuclear Stations.
Current scope includes:

Replacement of large condensers and vertical feedwater heater components

Associated piping upgrades and electrical integration
-
Emergency switchgear room upgrades, instrumentation and control cabling, and control room wiring

Coordination of field activities across outage and pre-outage planning windows
Outage schedules typically range from 30–90 days, with work performed on 6–7 day, 12–14-hour shifts. Pre-outage work follows a 4×10 or 5×10 schedule with consistent overtime and per diem eligibility.
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electrical Planner or Field Engineer in a Nuclear Generation Station environment.

Strong understanding of electrical systems, outage management, and isolation procedures.

Proficiency with MAXIMO (or similar nuclear work management systems).

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.

Familiarity with nuclear safety procedures, work control processes, and regulatory standards.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Electrical or Civil certification, or equivalent education and experience.
Physical Demands

Combination of office and field-based work.

Frequent walkdowns required in turbine and auxiliary areas.

Must be able to work extended hours during outage periods and travel between sites as required.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $75.00 and $100.00
