Job Title: Energy Marshal (Mission Critical / Data Center Projects)
Location: Atlanta, Phoenix, South Bend, Columbus
Estimated Duration: Fulltime

Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to oversee electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities on a mission-critical construction project. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe energization and operation of complex electrical systems in environments such as data centers or large industrial campuses.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep knowledge of energy isolation protocols and experience managing electrical safety programs from construction through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all energy isolation and LOTO procedures on the project.
  • Ensure all workers and contractors adhere to energy isolation protocols and client safety standards.
  • Review, approve, and monitor LOTO plans and energization processes across construction and commissioning teams.
  • Conduct site walks and inspections to evaluate electrical safety conditions and ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and project partners to verify proper training, documentation, and PPE for all energized work.
  • Participate in high-risk activity planning and lead investigations when energy-related incidents occur.
  • Track compliance, identify safety issues, and generate regular reports on the energy isolation program.
  • Collaborate closely with the safety team to reinforce a strong safety culture on site.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of construction, commissioning, or field engineering experience focused on electrical systems.
  • Prior experience managing energy isolation or LOTO programs in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, industrial plants, infrastructure).
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and hazardous energy control requirements.
  • Proficient in reading electrical one-lines, construction drawings, and MEP documentation.
  • OSHA 30 Certification and current First Aid/CPR/AED training.
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems, UPS, switchgear, generators, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to coordinate multiple teams and shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience on data center construction or commissioning projects.
  • Familiarity with centralized LOTO processes and auditing energy isolation programs.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $110,000 and $140,000
