Who Are You?
You are an Estimator with 5-10 years post-graduate experience in cost estimating, ideally within the rail and transportation sectors. You have experience working on large-scale infrastructure programs and are looking for the next step in your career, or you are currently undertaking a similar role in a comparable environment and are eager to join a growing and dynamic team.

Description:
As an Estimator in the Rail and Transportation division, you will be involved in:

  • Preparing Cost Estimates: Developing detailed and accurate cost estimates for complex rail and transportation projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
  • Client Interface: Engaging with clients and other consultants at all project stages to ensure clear communication and alignment on project scope and budget.
  • Cost Analysis: Conducting detailed analysis of project costs, identifying potential risks, and providing recommendations to optimize project budgets.
  • Market Research: Conducting research related to construction market conditions across Canada, with a focus on transportation infrastructure, including analysis of published data.
  • Bid Preparation: Supporting the preparation of bids and tenders by providing accurate and comprehensive cost data, ensuring competitive and realistic pricing.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborating with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering recommendations.
  • Business Development: Identifying and developing new business opportunities in the rail and transportation sectors.
  • Knowledge Management: Ensuring key information and insights generated from each project are documented in internal databases and shared across the organization.
  • Quality Control: Maintaining compliance with quality standards and participating in ISO audits to ensure excellence in service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in cost estimating, ideally within rail and transportation sectors.
  • A recognized university degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience leading estimating efforts on medium to large-scale infrastructure projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization (i.e., RICS, CIQS).
  • Certification or designation from a professional organization (i.e., MRICS, PQS) achieved or in-progress is required.
