As a result of the continuing growth, we require four seasoned Fibre Field Service Technicians ASAP.  Two based in Halifax and two based in New Brunswick. 

The role:
Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation and servicing of our client’s products, primarily associated with fiber optic and network equipment at customer locations.  Ensuring customer satisfaction with our products and services will be critical to the revenue growth of the company.

Primary Responsibility will be Fiber Splicing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Fiber splicing in outside plant enclosures, adding new cables, splicing single fiber, Ribbon fibers
Knowledgeable in CWDM and DWDM technologies
Splicing inside commercial buildings, run inhouse fiber to customer suites
Running Patch cords in Headend/CO’s, activating equipment, speed tests
Enclosure Changeouts/Fiber Cutovers, Pole Moves, Maintenance window work (2am-6am)
Installation, set-up and repair of client’s products in the CATV, telecommunications, power, and mobility industries, including associated fiber optic and network equipment in various construction projects and existing long haul networks.
Perform network splicing and certification as well as circuit testing.
Respond to corrective network problems, performing effective and efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting diagnosis and prompt repair of equipment to ensure service restoral objectives are met
Plan and implement preventative maintenance routines to ensure network standards of performance are met
Perform cutovers and upgrades on the network as directed by work orders
Test, research and implement all new equipment and test equipment and processes into network construction
Work with our Technical Service team members to ensure that services provided are consistent with service commitments made to customers during the service/sales process.
Ensure required information is reported to the correct parties in a timely, accurate and professional manner
Accurately prepare and complete concise reports relating to repair data: materials used, time, flat rate.
Perform other duties with minimal supervision and priority as needed.

Credentials & Experience:
Experience working in the field doing installation, maintenance and repair is required
1 year+ experience in the CATV, telecommunications highly desirable.
Fiber optic and coaxial experience desirable
Ability to work at heights over 30ft
Ability to use fiber test equipment, OTDR, Spectrum Analyzer, Light Identifier, Power Source, etc.
Ability to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
Excellent English speaking/communication skills required (verbal and written).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
Strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook 
Valid Driver’s License is required with a clear Driver’s abstract report plus a cleared criminal Back Check report

Work Environment:
8:00am – 5:00pm  Monday – Friday, however some weekends or overnights may be required with minimal notice depending on customer demand
Regular after-hour support required for live work during maintenance windows (2am-6am Maintenance Window)
Willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions
Ability to travel up to 90% of the time within NB, NS and PEI
Considerable time spent at customer locations and utilization of work vehicles
Requirement to travel to remote sites
In this position you will be assigned to many sites, routes and a large coverage area and will be asked to be in an on-call rotation in order to provide our customer emergency call outs
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$27.00 and CA$36.00
