Financial Analyst
Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity.
They are currently looking for a Financial Analyst for their Burnaby office
Overview:
The Finance Analyst performs financial accounting and complex financial analysis and provides expert financial advice to management of one or more business units to support business planning, financial planning, operations, and strategic decision making at client
Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial evaluations and studies by gathering, researching, adjusting, and analyzing financial data and applying expert knowledge of financial evaluation, statistical analysis, and modeling tools using advanced skills in MS Excel or a data analysis software, to support strategic decision making.
- Prepare and present financial results, proposals, and/or recommendations for management review by researching, developing, and presenting findings in support of client’s financial goals and objectives.
- Develop and draft the financial component of project proposals, budgets, business cases, and/or proposed feasibility studies and/or pilots by using excellent knowledge of financial transaction processing, reporting systems, data extraction, and financial and accounting policies, procedures, and processes to deliver finance support to business groups at client.
- Assist managers of one or more business units in strategic decision-making by providing expert analytical support and consultative advice on complex business and financial planning issues in compliance with the financial requirements of client’s regulated environment.
- • Design custom financial reports from the financial system by using good knowledge of finance standards and principles, taxation, and other accounting related legislation to support client’s finance objectives.
- Build meaningful relationships with internal clients by responding to finance related inquiries, resolving finance related issues, and collaborating across functional areas using excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively translate complex finance concepts in a concise and simple manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Finance, or other related discipline
- A minimum five (5) years of financial work experience that includes at least two (2) years as an intermediate/senior financial analyst or equivalent.
- Professional accounting designation such as the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of a regulated utilities industry, an asset
- Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$38.00 and CA$47.00
