Job Title: Full Stack Engineer

Duties: | Role is fully remote. Can be any timezone in Canada We are seeking a skilled Senior Back-End Java Developer (Contractor) to join the Platform and Development Xceleration Group and support the refactoring of the Interview Service application into a more modular, scalable, and customizable architecture. Key Responsibilities: Performance Optimization: – Refactor and optimize backend system components while continuing to support >15,000 TPS under high-load conditions. – Develop high-performance APIs and data-handling capabilities that ensure sub-millisecond latency for critical navigation and workflow operations. Resiliency & Disaster Recovery: Quality & Observability: – Build automated unit, integration, and load testing frameworks to ensure system reliability and adherence to performance SLAs (>99.999% availability). – Embed observability into the application using advanced monitoring and logging solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry. Collaboration: – Partner closely with Staff Engineers, architects, and product managers to define the technical roadmap for refactoring this critical service. |
Skills: | 8+ years of professional experience in backend development using Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Framework, Hibernate). Experience designing modular systems with configurable workflows and reusable components. Expertise in building scalable systems capable of handling high TPS workloads, including optimization techniques for performance and resilience. Proficiency in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD). Familiarity with cloud services ecosystems (AWS preferred), including advanced scaling and routing tools. Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks for backend systems Practical knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or Splunk to support monitoring, logging, and alerting. |
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$75.00
