Job Description
 About the Role
Canadian Tire is building modern, scalable, and event?driven platforms to power one of Canada’s most complex retail and digital ecosystems. We are looking for a Platform Architect – Integrations to lead the architecture and evolution of our enterprise integration capabilities.
This is a senior, hands?on architecture role focused on setting direction, defining standards, and enabling delivery at scale—not just designing one?off solutions. You will own the integration architecture that connects mission?critical systems across domains, enabling teams to move faster while maintaining reliability, security, and operational excellence.
At this level, success is measured by adoption, consistency, and business outcomes, not by lines of code.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

Architectural Leadership:

  • Own and evolve the enterprise integration architecture, ensuring it supports scalability, resilience, and loose coupling across distributed systems
  • Define and champion modern integration patterns, with a strong emphasis on asynchronous, event?driven, and streaming architectures

Platform & Standards Ownership:

  • Define, document, and maintain enterprise integration patterns, reference architectures, and standards
  • Guide technology selection and usage across integration platforms, balancing throughput, latency, reliability, and cost considerations

Technical Enablement & Governance:

  • Provide technical leadership for complex, cross?domain integration scenarios and mission?critical production flows
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure architectures are production?ready, observable, and aligned with platform and security standards
  • Influence delivery teams through design reviews, coaching, and architectural guardrails rather than direct control

Collaboration & Influence:

  • Work closely with Enterprise Architects, platform teams, application teams, and security partners to align integration architecture with enterprise strategy and governance
  • Act as a trusted advisor on integration decisions across the organization

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • A demonstrated Customer mindset – Intentionally putting the Customer at the center of everything we do
  • A demonstrated AI first mindset – Reimagining how we work and enabling the customer's shopping experience
  • Integration platforms are standardized, well?understood, and widely adopted
  • Event?driven and asynchronous patterns are the default for cross?system communication
  • Teams deliver integrations faster with fewer production issues
  • Architectural decisions scale across domains, not just individual projects

What you bring

  • Proven experience architecting enterprise?scale integration solutions across distributed systems
  • Deep expertise in integration architecture patterns, including event?driven, asynchronous messaging, and streaming architectures
  • Strong ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into pragmatic, scalable architectures
  • Demonstrated success influencing teams and stakeholders through architecture, standards, and technical leadership
  • Hands?on Java development experience building production?grade services
  • Practical understanding of Azure infrastructure, including subscriptions, resource groups, resources, access control with role-based access control, integrations with Azure AD, and Azure security principles (user group, service principal, managed identity), password/credential/key management, and data protection
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate both technical and business concepts, as well as strong presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in an Architectural role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in an Agile delivery organization (SAFe certification preferred)
  • Experience designing and leading integration solutions on Microsoft Azure
  • Experience designing and building APIs, running them on AKS, integrating with broker-based messaging systems (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, Pulsar), and managing API exposure through gateways such as Azure APIM
  • Experience working with cloud?native or containerized platforms (e.g., Kubernetes?based workloads)
  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka or Pulsar
  • Direct experience operating integration workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Background defining enterprise?wide integration governance or platform operating models
