Job Description:
Our Indigenous Relations team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary to support the team with a full range of legal administrative duties. The candidate will support delivery of key legal agreements related to projects and management, assurance, and monitoring of emerging issues and trends related to Indigenous peoples.
We are seeking a Paralegal who has knowledge and experience in Indigenous Relations Law. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to draft various legal agreements, Band Council Resolutions and other related agreements with a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Note: this posting is for a temporary contract term.
What you’ll do
- Providing paralegal support in the area of Indigenous Relations, including drafting complex legal agreements, various resolutions and other corporate information as required;
- Coordinating the preparation of, timelines, and legal requirements for project agreements;
- Providing paralegal support in the area of Indigenous Relations, including preparing agreements, drafting resolutions, ensuring proper execution of agreements and further handling for internal signature of all agreements as well attending to ongoing governance matters;
- Provide ongoing support to IR business initiatives and projects, as required;
- Work with Business Analysts to facilitate commitment documentation, tracking, and filing as required;
- Support coordination of departmental training as required;
- Support development and completion of departmental reporting as required;
- Provide back-up support to Business Analysts as needed; and
- Other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent communication, written and oral, and presentation skills;
- Strong planning and organizational skills;
- Clear understanding of Indigenous engagement across the lifecycle of various projects;
- Excellent inter-cultural skills;
- Completion of a recognized Paralegal program;
- Minimum three years of paralegal or related experience;
- Advanced computer skills in Word;
- Strong legal drafting skills.
Education/Experience:
- Paralegal certificate
- University Degree in relevant discipline
- 4 years of relevant experience
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$26.00 and CA$31.00
