Position Title: IT Product Owner

Story Behind the Need
Business group: Enterprise Capabilities & Fintech Partnerships – team is specifically in Payments and E-commerce: payments tokenization, integration etc.
Project: The contractor will be working on a NDA’ed project that is high profile for the Canadian Banking business line – it is regarding payments tokenization + integration; in initial phases, cannot share much more

Typical Day in Role:
The Product Owner is responsible for continuous and early delivery of business value. They are responsible for identifying capabilities, features, and potential risks for the product vision by working with end users, stakeholders, the agile team and business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to produce high quality features that will change the way the Bank interacts with customers. In collaboration with the agile team, the Product Owner will be engaged throughout the different phases of the product lifecycle and will actively evolve the product roadmap. The Product Owner (PO) will be expected to represent the voice of the customer and prioritize the backlog. Moreover, the incumbent will be expected to enable peers and tirelessly advocate for the vision and customer experience you’ve been entrusted with.
- Leader in agile product management to prioritize effectively and manage inter-dependencies across key scrum teams.
- Partners closely with business stakeholder teams to ensure an effective operating and delivery model.
- Prioritizes and manage a dedicated backlog with partners across commerce, payments and loyalty with internal and external product and engineering teams to ensure a user experience across client segments that is logical, engaging, and accessible.
- Regularly attend planning sessions, stand-ups, retrospectives, iteration reviews and other team meetings in order to verify that the output of the team is consistently delivering business value and aligned with the agreed upon commitments.
- Support the team by being available to provide definitions required to complete detailed user stories, whether through face-to-face meetings or suitable light-weight documentation.
- Uses data to drive decisions, building hypotheses, testing and iterating, including planning for the right incorporation of data and analytics strategies into roadmap.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 10+ years of experience as an IT Product Owner
- 5+ years’ experience in building customer facing digital products, with demonstrated experience managing a technology product or a digital journey end to end, from inception to delivery
- 3+ years’ experience with e-commerce, payments, and loyalty rewards products.
- 5+ years’ experience with API and payment integration technologies
- 5+ years’ experience leading a Scrum team
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience with web technologies and mobile development
- Experience with front end designs
- Strong understanding of the Retail/Small Business Banking business lines
- Experience from FI or banking an asset
Soft Skills Required:
- Ability to build trusted relationships, instill confidence and influence stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills
- Stakeholder management skills
Education:
- Bachelors in technical field e.g. computer science, engineering
- Certifications: CSPO, CSM, Amazon cloud practitioner, PMI/PMP nice to haves
Best VS. Average Candidate:
Ideal candidate has all the requirements and is a strong technical product owner who has experience leading scrum teams in highly matrixed organizations, strong in APIs, in terms of leading scrum team not necessarily scrum master but high-level overall management

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$80.00
