Job Title: Cloud Engineer

Duration: 3 months
Business group: Cloud Engineering – main teams are responsible for creating platform (Kubernetes) and all connections for logging monitoring chargeback and setting up all processes around creating/establishing Cloud resources for different projects; creating processes for automating releases; spearheading creation and management of new resources coming to Bank; some teams are responsible for CICD processes – encompassing Bank’s security and auditable processes to go from development/non-prod to production environment; DevOps teams assisting in SDLC; troubleshooting and acting as a point person between development and operations teams.
Project: Cloud Acceleration Program – moving towards Google Cloud, team will be focusing on virtual machines in the Cloud, initiative to move virtual machines from private cloud environment VMWare to GCVE/GCE environments; in initial phases; program will take a few years before is fully completed
As a Cloud Engineer you will be working closely with platform engineering team to design, build and maintain cloud platforms. You will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing our cloud operations for the cloud platforms and services. Typical Day in Role:
- Participating in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
- Ensuring software, programs and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
- Participating in planning, retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc.
- Supporting application teams on the use of cloud platform including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
- Level 3 support responsibilities are required.
- Design and manage Cloud Services – Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) & Platform as a Service (PaaS)
- You thrive on the detailed design & deployment of cloud services; the same in the design & implementation of automated delivery pipelines for the cloud services.
- You can work with engineers and architects on breaking-down, scoping, and estimating tasks.
- You are proficient in providing Level 3 support for developed Cloud Services.
- You can develop & document operational procedures for service operations teams.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in Cloud Services (Azure, AWS, GCP), with at least 1+ with Google Cloud Platform
2) 2+ years’ experience with Compute (Linux Virtual Machines, Disks, VM Manager, GCVE)
3) 2+ years’ experience with Containerization (Docker, Google Kubernetes Engine)
4) 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience of using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Tools (e.g., GitHub Enterprise and/or Azure DevOps) for the purposes of maintaining pipelines
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) delivery pipelines e.g. HashiCorp’s Terraform
2) 1+ years of experience with development languages (Python, Powershell,GO etc.) – scripts in GCP written in Python, developed using CI/CD pipelines, from Ops POV if issues with scripts, they should be able to resolve issues in scripts; Go is related to Kubernetes
3) 1+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of Configuration Management & Automation tools (e.g., Saltstack, Perforce’s Puppet and/or Red Hat Ansible and/or Progress® Chef®).
4) 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Bash and/or Powershell to develop automation & deployment utilities
5) 2+ years’ experience Storage Services (Persistent Disks, Backup and DR Service, Cloud Storage)
Soft Skills Required:
- Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken; of specific importance the strong communication to a technical audience
- Attention to details, high standards for quality.
- Writing and maintaining related documentation.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Best VS. Average Candidate:
Ideal candidate has experience migrating workloads from existing cloud and on-prem; strong GCP experience

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$60.00
