Position Summary:  
We are seeking Financial Analysts (up to 4 positions) to augment our team on a temporary basis. The Financial Analysts plays a vital role in providing financial support to researchers across the Organization for Restricted Funds. This includes providing knowledge and support on operationalizing the model within their projects, providing advice, and reconciling department and/or faculty accounts.
   
Key Responsibilities:  
• Assists research grant holders with post-award financial policies and procedures.
• Acts as a resource to the grant holders to support funding-agency guidelines, UAPPOL policies and guidelines concerning research, trust-funded staffing, etc. to ensure application is in accordance with applicable policies and guidelines.
• Monitors and provides financial oversight to grant holders including support of end-dates and advising Principal Investigators on how to request account extensions, over expenditures and budget changes.
• Supports and provides financial advice as required, reviewing accounts on a monthly basis via various tools (Financials – eTrac, Data Warehouse/Tableau, Peoplesoft).
• Collaborates with the Research Services Office, Staff Service Centre, Finance, Procurement and Planning and the Faculty members to appropriately support research/trust accounts.
• Works with Shared Services to investigate and resolve discrepancies between account transactions and account balances.
• Analyzes over-expended accounts and determines actions to resolve issues.
• Brings any unresolved or pertinent issues to the attention of the Senior Finance Partner.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end financial summaries.
• Assists in the compilation of financial information required for various reporting purposes for affiliated projects and department initiatives.
• Other financial duties and ad hoc research account reconciliations as required.
Qualifications:  
Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or post-secondary diploma with accounting and business coursework considered an asset.
Minimum of three years of progressive experience in an office setting with finance/administration focus.
Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite.
Knowledge of Peoplesoft (Financial) applications and University of Alberta policies and procedures an asset.
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage workloads.
Team player with a collaborative approach.
   
Work location: Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.  
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. OR 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  
Hours per day: 35 hours per week

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$35.00 and CA$60.00
