Position Title: Software Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 5 months
Story Behind the Need
Business group: You’ll become part of client’s Cloud and Platform Engineering Product Team, with a specific focus on the Event Streaming Platform.
Project: The Event Streaming Platform serves as a crucial tool within client, providing a quick, easy to use self-service Events Platform for developers to focus on building business solutions and not worry about tooling. For business lines it enables real-time data exchange across business silos unlocking new and exciting use cases that are currently very difficult or infeasible to create.
Reason for request: We need an additional part-time engineer to meet our business case deliverables. Looking for 2 days/week and a junior engineer.
Candidate Value Proposition
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop as an engineer. This is a steppingstone to a potential full-time contract or FTE conversion. Working on an exciting new initiative with good visibility within the bank!
Typical Day in Role:
- Hands on development of the capabilities of the Confluent Kafka platform.
- Hands-on integration of applications into the Confluent Kafka platform.
- Will be working with team leads to understand requirements.
- Working on mid-tier platform, supporting specialized architecture for real-time status streaming.
- Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
- Supporting technical solutions and strategies for software applications and supporting build detail technical design, deployment & implementation patterns.
Must Have Skills:
- Confluent Kafka certification is required
- 1-2 years’ hands-on experience with as a junior engineer
- 1-2 years’ hands-on experience with Java 8+
- 1-2 years’ hands-on experience with experience with Microservices (Kubernetes)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- GCP or Azure experience is an asset
Soft Skills:
- Good communication
- Team player
- Adaptability
Best vs Average: A resource who has a relevant degree and work experience that is certified in Confluent Kafka. Seeking someone with critical thinking skillsets displayed in interview.
Degrees or certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or engineering is required
- Confluent Kafka certification is required
