The Lead Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for engineering and support of the On-Prem/Cloud (e.g., AWS) infrastructure delivered via an agile/scrum or traditional/hybrid SDLC methodology. The successful candidate will provide Infrastructure Solutions ensuring that all technical deliverables meet the highest quality standards, enabling 99.99% uptime.

This role works closely with product manager and delivery teams, including security, to understand business requirements, product features and expected outcomes (revenue, customer/client satisfaction, data) and performs infrastructure planning, design and deployment to efficiently deliver the solutions.
 
Critical to success will be a collaborative mindset, strong technical expertise, ability to align with overall architecture & design, translate business requirements to technical needs, and deliver infrastructure for efficient, scalable. and high quality solutions.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead planning, design, deployment, and operation of infrastructure components to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of deployed infrastructure.
  • Liaise with business and technical stakeholders to ensure proper priority in addressing technical debt. Advise delivery teams to ensure technical debt is efficiently addressed (group related components).
  • Provide high level estimates on infrastructure delivery work effort (planning, design, implementation, and post implementation support).
  • Manage and maintain web, application and database servers, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Develop and implement Ansible and Terraforms scripts for infrastructure deployment and management configurations.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure solutions for Web, Java and Analytics applications.
  • Design and plan migration of on-prem physical and virtual infrastructure to AWS cloud, ensuring compliance with best practices for security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components with applications and services.
  • Provide technical guidance and directions to development, networking teams to ensure proper infrastructure integration and deployment.
  • Act as escalation point for scrum/project teams on functional, technical, quality, and timeline challenges
  • End-to-end responsibility for all technical aspects of infrastructure releases ensuring all parties are engaged and aligned such as Network/Ops, InfoSec, and Operations.  This includes obtaining timely approval at various gates, configuration review, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure threat test and production environments are aligned and in sync and able to meet critical product release/implementation deadlines.
  • Engage in the daily huddle, and regular leadership status meetings.
  • Establish the production support cadence, review ongoing operations, and rectify any issues.
  • Understand how company’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies, processes, and tools to enhance Infrastructure capabilities.
  • Mentor and guide infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Ensure agile best practices are applied to technical Infrastructure deployment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure technical lead roles in global organizations
  • Expert Infrastructure knowledge in the financial sector (large financial institutions, financial arms of insurance companies, and credit bureaus) is a must-have.
  • Strong background in security concepts, compliance management, infrastructure deployment, management, and control processes.
  • Strong experience with AWS, including EC2, S3, RDS, EKS and other relevant services.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools such as Terraform, Ansible or AWS Cloudformation.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding on how to align IT strategies with business objectives.
  • Have experience and passionate about leveraging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency to enable business objectives.
  • Technical expertise in full technology stack esp back-end, batch. Good understanding of infrastructure, data, InfoSec, Operations.
  • Good understanding on practical application of Cloud and Data technologies is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.  
  • Knowledge of Java and web application development and deployment.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong people leadership in a technical capacity (attract, grow, and retain)
  • Highly analytical and problem-solving skills. Hands on experience in application production support.
  • Ability to work during outside of regular office hours to enable collaboration across global teams, and support production management or implementation issues.
  • Proven experience in planning, designing, deploying, and operating infrastructure components.

     

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
