Job Title: Manager, Network Platforms
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
What you’ll do
The Manager, Network Platforms is responsible for the design, operation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s network infrastructure across data centers, cloud environments, and distributed retail and corporate sites. This role oversees two core engineering squads — Core Network & Cloud and Remote Site Networks — ensuring a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective network foundation that enables the business.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a service provider mindset, capable of balancing performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency across a complex multi-vendor environment.
Strategic and Technical Leadership
• Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of network platforms across data centers, clouds (Azure and others), and retail/corporate sites.
• Drive the adoption of network-as-code and automation frameworks to improve repeatability, observability, and time to deploy.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects and security teams to ensure network architecture aligns with cloud and security standards.
• Champion value engineering — selecting right-sized solutions and avoiding unnecessary spend while maintaining reliability and performance.
Infrastructure Operations
• Ensure performance, scalability, and availability targets are met across over 1,600 sites, including retail stores, corporate offices, and distribution centers.
• Oversee multi-vendor environments including Cisco, Juniper, and Extreme Networks.
• Lead modernization initiatives to retire legacy platforms and standardize on next-generation SD-WAN and Wi-Fi solutions.
• Partner with the Network Services Manager to ensure seamless integration of connectivity, monitoring, and support functions.
Team Leadership
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of network engineers and specialists across both squads.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Encourage innovation through proof-of-concept testing, lab environments, and automation-first thinking.
Automation, Observability, and Continuous Improvement
• Implement infrastructure-as-code principles across configuration, deployment, and monitoring workflows.
• Work with the monitoring and automation teams to enhance observability through proactive telemetry, analytics, and AI-driven insight tools.
• Partner with operations and incident response teams to minimize mean time to repair (MTTR) and improve service resilience.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
• Oversee vendor engagements related to hardware, software, and managed services for core and site networks.
• Ensure network standards and designs are consistently applied across all delivery partners.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support business initiatives requiring new or enhanced connectivity.
What you bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in network engineering and operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
• Strong background in service provider or MSP-style environments with distributed networks and customer-focused uptime models.
• Deep hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper (Mist) networking technologies, including routing, switching, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi.
• Knowledge of automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python).
• Working knowledge of Azure Networking, ExpressRoute, VPNs, and hybrid interconnects.
• Familiarity with observability platforms and network performance analytics tools.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on coaching and developing engineers.
• A passion for operational excellence, cost efficiency, and delivering measurable business value through technology.
