Position Summary
The client is seeking a hands-on and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support the optimization of configured HVAC unit assembly operations. Reporting to the Industrial Engineering Manager, this role will focus on documenting processes, driving continuous improvement, supporting lean initiatives, and assisting with jig and fixture design while maintaining clear work instructions and shop-floor standards.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Identify, analyze, and implement process improvements
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, line balancing, waste reduction, and cycle-time improvement
  • Submit and lead Capital Expenditure projects while meeting productivity, safety, budget, and timeline goals
  • Design and source dies, fixtures, and tooling to support production
  • Develop work instructions, standard work charts, and train production staff
  • Maintain shop floor layouts using 2D CAD
  • Perform process audits to support operational excellence
  • Plan and execute cell layout updates and line balancing in collaboration with production teams
  • Develop expertise in problem solving, continuous improvement, and manufacturability in a sheet metal environment
  • Lead CapEx projects from concept through execution
  • Support operator-based Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate vendor maintenance activities
  • Perform other duties as required

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred), or related diploma/CET equivalent
  • Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Experience in sheet metal or HVAC manufacturing (strong asset)
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks considered an asset), Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • A strong passion for manufacturing, operations, and continuous improvement

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75,000 and CA$85,000
