Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Automation Tester / Quality Engineer to join our quality engineering team. The successful candidate will have strong experience across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Testing Development Life Cycle (TDLC), with a proven background in both manual and automated testing.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks and automated test scenarios for iOS and Android mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have strong programming and scripting skills, experience with Appium and Selenium-based automation, and a solid understanding of CI/CD, API testing, database validation, and mobile accessibility testing.

Experience within banking or financial services environments and familiarity with banking platforms and integrations will be highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain automated testing frameworks for mobile applications.

  • Develop and execute automated test scenarios for iOS and Android applications using Appium.

  • Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using JavaScript, Python, Groovy, and other scripting languages.

  • Apply software development and automation best practices to create scalable, maintainable, and reusable test solutions.

  • Perform manual functional, integration, regression, system, and exploratory testing as required.

  • Develop and execute BDD-based automated tests using frameworks such as Jasmine or Mocha.

  • Conduct API and web service testing using tools such as Postman, JMeter, SoapUI, or equivalent.

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, including configuration and execution through Jenkins.

  • Manage source code and automation assets using Git or comparable source code management tools.

  • Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data and test results.

  • Perform mobile testing across different devices, operating systems, screen sizes, and configurations.

  • Conduct mobile accessibility testing and ensure applications meet applicable accessibility standards.

  • Utilize mobile testing platforms and solutions such as Perfecto, UFT, SmartBear TestComplete, Soasta TouchTest, or equivalent.

  • Identify, document, investigate, and track defects through resolution using tools such as JIRA or Bugzilla.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, architects, and other QA professionals throughout the SDLC.

  • Review business and technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive test strategies, scenarios, and automation solutions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, automation frameworks, testing standards, and best practices.

  • Support testing of web technologies and integrations involving SOAP, XML, HTML, and CSS.

  • Test integrations across banking systems and platforms, including IBS, FMS, MBS, PFW, EWMS, Workflow, and CRM.

  • Work with and test applications integrated with FIS Profile and the FileNet product suite.

  • Support performance testing initiatives using tools such as Soasta, CloudTest, and Dynatrace where required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • University or College degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience working within the SDLC and TDLC.

  • 5+ years of experience in a test automation, quality engineering, software development, or automation developer role.

  • 5+ years of hands-on manual testing experience, including strong knowledge of QA methodologies and testing practices.

  • Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.

  • Strong hands-on experience automating iOS and Android mobile applications using Appium.

  • Strong programming/scripting experience with JavaScript, Python, and Groovy.

  • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, WebdriverIO, or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of coding structures, object-oriented concepts, automation design patterns, and software development best practices.

  • Experience with BDD testing frameworks, including Jasmine, Mocha, or equivalent.

  • Experience configuring and integrating automated tests into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with Git or similar source code management tools.

  • Strong experience writing and executing SQL queries for data validation and testing.

  • Experience with API and web service testing using Postman, JMeter, SoapUI, or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience with mobile testing platforms such as Perfecto, UFT, SmartBear TestComplete, Soasta TouchTest, or similar.

  • Experience performing mobile accessibility testing.

  • Experience with defect management tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or equivalent.

  • Experience with requirement management tools such as RequisitePro, DOORS, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of web content management tools and concepts.

  • Knowledge of SOAP, XML, HTML, and CSS.

Financial Services Experience

Experience working within banking or financial services environments is strongly preferred, particularly experience testing applications that integrate with:

  • IBS

  • FMS

  • MBS

  • PFW

  • EWMS

  • Workflow

  • CRM

  • FIS Profile

  • FileNet

Candidates should understand the complexities of testing integrated banking applications and be comfortable working across multiple systems, APIs, databases, and downstream/upstream integrations.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools such as Soasta, CloudTest, and Dynatrace.

  • Experience working with cloud-based mobile device testing platforms.

  • Experience testing highly integrated enterprise or financial services applications.

  • Experience developing reusable automation frameworks and libraries from the ground up.

  • Knowledge of mobile testing best practices across multiple versions of iOS and Android.

  • Experience with accessibility standards and automated accessibility testing tools.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Quality Engineer with deep mobile automation expertise, particularly with Appium and iOS/Android testing. They should be comfortable coding automation frameworks rather than simply executing pre-built test scripts and should understand how automation fits into modern CI/CD pipelines.

Strong candidates will bring a combination of mobile automation, programming, manual testing, API testing, SQL, CI/CD, and enterprise application testing experience, ideally within a complex banking or financial services environment.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$72.00
