Job Title: Platform Architect- Event Streaming
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 9 months

Contract until end of 2025

Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Design:

  • Design and architect a robust event streaming platform that supports high-throughput, low-latency data streams.
  • Develop architecture blueprints and technical roadmaps that align with business goals.
  • Ensure the platform is designed for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.

Technology Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in event streaming and distributed systems.
  • Advocate for best practices in software development, testing, and deployment.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.

Performance Optimization:

  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance for data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to ensure system health and performance.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure the platform adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Implement data encryption, access controls, and other security measures as necessary.

Documentation:

  • Create comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, APIs, and operational procedures.
  • Provide training and support to engineering teams on platform usage and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Platform Architect or similar role, with a focus on event streaming platforms.
  • Strong expertise in distributed systems, real-time data processing, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency with event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, Azure ASB, Eventgrid, Event hub
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards relevant to data streaming.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and storage solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about system design.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
