Position: Platform Engineer
Location: Toronto (2-3 days onsite)
Employment Type: Contract (6 months potential extension)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in managing database infrastructure, with a blend of Cloud DevOps and Big Data Administration skills on AWS. The role involves managing and optimizing large-scale data environments, focusing on the creation of services and tools to support multi-tenant platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize database infrastructure across multi-tenant environments.
- Implement Cloud DevOps practices to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Administer big data infrastructure on AWS, including AWS Lake Formation.
- Develop and maintain Spark job auditing, monitoring, instrumentation, and performance tuning.
- Create and maintain data products and tools to manage complex data pipelines.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate data solutions and ensure seamless data operations.
- Design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Manage data flow and orchestration processes with tools such as AWS Glue and Hive.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in Cloud DevOps and Big Data Administration on AWS.
- Proficient in Python for scripting and automation.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Lake Formation, Lake House vs. Data Fabric, and Data Product concepts.
- Experience with Spark job auditing, monitoring, instrumentation, and performance tuning.
- Deep understanding of Spark 3+ features, including architecture, events, system metrics, AQE, and job-level resource management.
- Expertise in tools and services such as Hudi, Parquet, IAM, AWS Glue, and Hive.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Iceberg, Airflow, Terragrunt, and DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with data orchestration and pipeline management tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Years of experience in Cloud DevOps, Big Data, or related roles.
- Certifications in AWS or Big Data technologies are a plus.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$85.00 and CA$95.00
