Job Title: Postgres Database Administrator

What you’ll bring:
- Expert level knowledge of PostgreSQL Database technologies
- 2+ years of experience migrating PostgreSQL databases to AWS Aurora
- Technical leadership across database, storage, and Unix domains. Create and document database standards and best practices.
- Expert level knowledge in at least two scripting languages and a strong understanding of Unix
- Ability to communicate your vision to project stakeholders and upper management
- 15+ years of Postgres SQL DBA experience
- 5+ years of experience with another database platform such as DB2 or SQL Server
- 5+ years of experience with streaming and logical replication
- 5+ years of experience leading a team of DBAs.
Must-Have:
- Exposure to AWS / Amazon Aurora
- Experience with Linux admin, storage admin, network admin.
- Experience with cluster management tools supporting HA PostgreSQL clusters (Patroni, etc.)
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible/Git
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent experience with PostgreSQL Database
- Experience with DB2 or SQL Server
Impact you’ll make:
- In the first 90 days – Review operational processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and ensure system stability.
- Beyond 90 days – Demonstrate technical expertise in database administration to a team of 3 PostgreSQL and DB2 DBAs, work independently on the most complex projects, design and implement active/active PostgreSQL solutions, design highly available database solutions that can meet 24×7 uptimes, identify opportunities to implement the latest PostgreSQL features or other new technology, ensure our databases meet security policies and standards.
- The Principal DBA will help determine the technical direction of the team and be responsible for mentoring other DBAs.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$85.00
