Job Title: Power BI Developer with Azure Databricks Experience
Location: Downtown Toronto

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer with a strong background in Azure Databricks to join our data analytics team. This role is integral to designing and developing visually compelling, data-driven solutions that empower data-informed decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Power BI, advanced data modeling, and ETL processes, along with expertise in Azure Databricks to drive performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dashboard and Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights and drive business outcomes.
  • Data Modeling and ETL: Use Azure Databricks to perform data transformations, develop ETL pipelines, and ensure data accuracy and integrity for effective data modeling in Power BI.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources including Azure SQL, data lakes, APIs, and on-premises systems to create a comprehensive and unified data platform.
  • Optimization and Performance Tuning: Implement optimization techniques in Power BI and Azure Databricks for efficient data processing, query performance, and dashboard loading times.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable reporting solutions.
  • Data Governance and Quality: Establish and maintain data governance practices, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Documentation and Training: Document solutions, data models, and technical processes while providing training and support to end-users to maximize the value of Power BI reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Power BI Developer.
    • Proven experience with Azure Databricks, including building and optimizing ETL pipelines and data transformations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced skills in Power BI for dashboard and report creation, data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
    • Strong knowledge of Azure Databricks for data processing, with proficiency in PySpark or SQL.
    • Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, or Azure SQL databases.
    • Proficient in data visualization principles and best practices, with the ability to turn complex data into intuitive and user-friendly reports.
    • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, optimization, and managing large datasets within Power BI.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data-related issues and create solutions that are both efficient and scalable.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Power BI or Azure certifications are a plus.
