Sr. Procurement Advisor
Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Sr Procurement Advisor for their Burnaby location.
Overview:
Provide leadership, guidance, and advice to client groups within the line of business in sourcing, procuring, and managing a wide range of goods and services, particularly those with high value, high complexity, and/or high financial or political risk impacts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and plan the implementation of sourcing strategies or related work packages by using excellent skills in communication, analysis, critical thinking, planning/project management, supplier/market research, problem-solving, and facilitation of decision-making in a large and complex organization.
- Implement sourcing strategies or related work packages using a thorough understanding of client sourcing processes and standards, good project management practices, knowledge of public sector procurement law, and the appropriate application of relevant supply chain concepts.
- Lead and/or support projects/programs that may include developing and conducting competitive sourcing events (eg. RFPs, RFSQ, RFT, etc.). May include developing and conducting multi-stage RFx's.
- Sourcing activities may also include First Nations directed procurement, province wide and global initiatives, and working with other utilities on joint initiatives (eg. Telus, Fortis).
- Preparing approval document and negotiation strategy prior to initiating negotiations. Leading negotiations through to awarding of contract(s).
- Implementing supplier relationship management initiatives including analyzing and resolving escalated contract or supplier issues.
- Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships between client’s supply chain organization and business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders through activities such as timely communication, resolution of issues, and relevant reporting.
- Analyzing and resolving escalated contract or supplier issues.
- Act as a subject matter expert by advising on sourcing best practices, approaches, and standards to enhance current operational efficiency and future capability.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years progressive Supply Chain Management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain or in a related field
- Excellent interpersonal, communications, negotiating, project management, planning and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of contract development, competitive bid law and contract law.
- Ability to successfully manage large procurement projects, including those of a complex nature
- Ability to lead complex negotiations with large vendors
- Experience in crown corporations or government environments, an asset
- Experience with government/public procurement and, the various Canadian free trade agreements is preferred.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$52.50 and CA$65.00
