Core Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst in large-scale technology programs
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end requirements across complex, multi-stream initiatives
  • Strong experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile delivery environments (Scrum, SAFe, or similar)

Domain & Technology Experience

  • Experience working on digital transformation or modernization programs
  • Familiarity with API-based architectures and integration patterns
  • Exposure to Appian or other BPM / low-code platforms is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of AI-enabled solutions or data-driven decisioning systems is an asset
  • Experience in insurance, underwriting, or financial services is highly desirable

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong skills in process modeling (BPMN or equivalent)
  • Experience writing user stories, functional specs, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to interpret and contribute to technical design discussions
  • Familiarity with data mapping, integration requirements, and system interfaces

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced program environment
  • Strong facilitation and workshop leadership skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with underwriting systems or medical underwriting processes
  • Appian knowledge or certification
  • Exposure to AI/ML use cases in operations or decisioning
  • Experience working in regulated environments

Role profile description: 
We are looking for a Program Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to play a critical role in delivering a large-scale underwriting modernization program. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day analysis and requirements lifecycle across the program, ensuring business needs are effectively translated into clear, actionable technical requirements.
The program will leverage modern technologies including APIs, Appian, and AI-driven capabilities to transform medical underwriting processes, improve decisioning, and enhance customer and advisor experiences.
As a Senior BSA within the program, you will act as a bridge between business and technology teams, driving clarity, alignment, and execution across multiple workstreams.

What you will do

  • Lead and manage end-to-end requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation for a complex, multi-stream program
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand and document current and future-state underwriting processes
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements, including process models, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Work closely with engineering teams to break down requirements into deliverable components ready for development
  • Support solutions leveraging Appian workflows, API integrations, and AI capabilities
  • Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization activities with product and delivery teams
  • Ensure requirements are well-defined, testable, and aligned with program objectives
  • Collaborate with solution architects and developers to ensure feasibility and alignment with enterprise standards
  • Support UAT planning, execution, and issue resolution alongside business stakeholders
  • Track dependencies, risks, and issues related to requirements delivery across the program
  • Drive continuous improvement in requirements practices, documentation standards, and delivery efficiency

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$100.00
