Job Title: Senior Project Controls Specialist

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale capital projects within an industrial energy environment. This role is responsible for providing project controls expertise across project initiation, cost management, forecasting, progress measurement, reporting, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting complex capital programs and working closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, construction, and accounting teams to ensure projects remain aligned with schedule and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide project controls support across the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and closeout
- Develop and maintain project controls plans, reporting structures, and cost tracking processes
- Review and provide input into project estimates, schedules, budgets, and forecasting activities
- Monitor project cost performance, commitments, and earned value metrics
- Analyze project data and identify trends, risks, and variances impacting cost or schedule performance
- Support development and maintenance of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, schedulers, engineering, procurement, and construction teams
- Participate in risk assessments, forecasting reviews, and project performance evaluations
- Review contractor progress, commitments, and cost reporting to support estimate-at-completion updates
- Prepare and review monthly reporting packages and provide recommendations to leadership
- Support project funding activities and ensure proper financial and administrative closeout
- Mentor junior and intermediate project controls personnel as needed
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- 15+ years of project controls experience supporting large capital projects
- Strong experience with:
- Cost management and forecasting
- Budget tracking and variance analysis
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Progress measurement and reporting
- Schedule review and performance analysis
- Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project environments
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, energy, pipeline, or infrastructure projects
- Field project experience
- Experience with high-risk or complex capital programs
- Familiarity with project controls systems, reporting tools, and financial tracking processes
- Experience mentoring or leading junior project controls personnel

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $63.00 and $68.00
