Role: Project Manager – Payments Modernization
Location: Downtown Toronto – Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Contract Duration: 6 months
About the Role:
We are seeking a Project Manager with expertise in payments modernization and cross-border/international money transfers to lead and deliver key initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing projects within the financial services sector, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and driving results in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end delivery of projects focused on payments modernization and cross-border money transfer systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and risk management to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including technology, operations, compliance, and business units.
- Ensure alignment with international payment standards and industry regulations (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT).
- Track project progress, manage changes, and report key metrics to senior management.
- Facilitate effective communication between all stakeholders to resolve challenges and ensure project success.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in financial services, with a focus on payments and/or money transfer projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payments modernization initiatives, such as real-time payments or digital payment ecosystems.
- Experience with cross-border and international payment systems and their regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of ISO 20022 messaging standards, SWIFT networks, and similar technologies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including senior executives, vendors, and external partners.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project, or equivalent) and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payment infrastructure modernization projects within Canada or other major markets.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Familiarity with compliance and risk considerations for cross-border payments (e.g., anti-money laundering, KYC).
