Job Title: Project Manager Telecom Construction
Location: Markham, ON (Remote)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months
Our client is a Fiber and 5G broadband company for rural living. They have become one of the country’s largest facilities-based telecommunications providers for residential and business customers. The client is building a world-class Fiber optic and 5G wireless network to enable innovative broadband services for today and future generations. We are seeking to hire a Project Manager for telecom construction. The location is remote, but the project is based in Calgary, Alberta. This is a twelve-month contract to start and has a strong chance to be extended for more term based on successful performance. This is a dynamic team with aggressive network build plans.
The role:
Collaborate with marketing, site acquisition, engineering, supply chain, construction, and operations primes to prioritize and schedule project deliverables. Assist in client’s marketing effort where appropriate and as directed by management. Assist with the procurement of Fixed Wireless construction materials 25% of time spent
Assess project deployment plan or business case to develop project scope. Run competitive RFP processes for the selection of Fixed Wireless design and construction contractors. Assist management in final contract negotiations and in the development of a short list of qualified contractors for future work. Gather applicable project safety documentation and certificates of insurance prior to project start 5%
Collaborate with construction implementation teams to identify and balance internal resource allocation. Ensure contractual obligations of the project are understood and met by all parties. Plan and organize work to meet project schedule deadlines and financial objectives. 5%
Lead regular meetings with stakeholders on resolving implementation issues and variances and develop action plans to manage changes or issues on projects. Conduct project meetings and prepare minutes as required. 25%
Regular reporting and communication on project status and budget. provide project status reporting to the Program Management team. 5%
Effectively manage change orders on projects. Manage Request for Information, Change Order Management process and related reporting. 5%
Minimum Knowledge
- Effective written, verbal and listening communications skills
- Able to perform at a high pace and under pressure
- Good knowledge of wireless telecommunications networks and infrastructure
- Telecommunications construction knowledge
- Able to read & interpret construction contracts
- Able to read & interpret engineered drawings
- Able to prepare cost estimates and schedules
- Ability to effectively and appropriately delegate workload
- Ability to make decisions
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in project management or build-out of wireless network infrastructure.
- Completion of related post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
- Familiarity with database systems (such as salesforce & QuickBase)
- Familiarity with financial management systems (such as SAP)
- Previous experience with Wireless Network deployments
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$45.00 and CA$50.00
