Quality Control Inspector – Nuclear

Position Overview

The Quality Control Inspector will support inspection and quality assurance activities associated with the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and refurbishment of mechanical and structural equipment used within regulated nuclear facilities. The successful candidate will verify that materials, components, workmanship, and supporting documentation comply with approved drawings, procedures, quality plans, technical requirements, and applicable industry codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete incoming material, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with approved quality requirements, technical specifications, and applicable industry codes.
• Inspect mechanical, structural, and welded components intended for use in safety-conscious and highly regulated environments.
• Review fabrication drawings, engineering specifications, inspection plans, procedures, and other technical documentation to determine acceptance requirements.
• Support the preparation, review, and closeout of work packages, turnover records, and component history documentation.
• Assist with the review of inspection procedures, manufacturing and inspection plans, and related quality documents.
• Perform supplier or vendor surveillance and source inspections when required.
• Confirm that field activities are completed in accordance with approved inspection plans, surveillance requirements, and authorized work procedures.
• Conduct quality verification activities during fabrication, construction, maintenance, installation, and refurbishment work.
• Record inspection findings, deficiencies, deviations, and non-conforming conditions in accordance with the established quality assurance program.
• Verify that project personnel maintain current training records, qualifications, certifications, visual acuity documentation, and other required records.
• Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Construction, and Quality teams to investigate and resolve quality-related concerns.
• Participate in audits, quality surveillance activities, program assessments, and procedural reviews.
• Promote strong nuclear safety, procedural compliance, and questioning-attitude principles throughout daily activities.
• Ensure inspection instruments and measuring devices are properly selected, controlled, calibrated, maintained, and used within their approved range.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current site access authorization for a Canadian nuclear generating facility is required or must be transferable and initiated promptly.
• Post-secondary diploma or equivalent education in Non-Destructive Examination, Quality Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Welding Technology, or a related discipline.
• Approximately one to three years of relevant inspection, quality control, fabrication, construction, or nuclear industry experience.
• Level 2 certification under the Canadian General Standards Board in liquid penetrant testing or another non-destructive examination method is considered an asset.
• Canadian Welding Bureau Level 1 or Level 2 inspection certification is considered an asset.
• Practical knowledge of non-destructive examination methods, inspection techniques, and quality control processes.
• Familiarity with ASME requirements, nuclear quality programs, welding standards, and regulated fabrication practices is preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, weld symbols, specifications, procedures, and inspection documentation.
• Comfortable performing work in confined spaces, controlled areas, and radiological environments.
• Available to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, statutory holidays, and extended schedules that may exceed 70 hours per week.
• Able to travel to and from the assigned project site as required.
• Capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, communication skills, and commitment to procedural compliance.
