Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Niagara, ON (On site)
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer, Airworthiness Compliance to join our team at a leading helicopter manufacturing and assembly facility in the Niagara Region. This is a critical role — you will serve as the final checkpoint before aircraft are delivered to customers, ensuring all helicopters meet Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulatory standards and are airworthy for return to service.
You will work alongside a small, experienced quality team and report to the Director of Quality Assurance. This is a hands-on position that blends physical aircraft inspection with rigorous documentation and compliance oversight.
- On-site, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (day shift)
- Hours may flex slightly to align with aircraft completion and inspection schedules
Airworthiness Compliance
- Represent the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) for U.S. aeronautical products maintained under the Canada-U.S. Bilateral Agreement for return to service (RTS) after inspection, maintenance, or alteration
- Compile and maintain comprehensive airworthiness directives, alert service bulletins, and component log cards for final aircraft conformity
- Issue TCCA Form Ones, conformity inspection records, and airworthiness approvals for products and articles in accordance with approved type design requirements
- Validate compliance of life-limited and cycle-limited components, airworthiness directives, and emergency bulletins per TCCA/AMM/ICA-approved inspection programs
- Validate testing of ELTs, transponders, altimeters, airspeed indicators, air data computers, and static pressure systems per TCCA regulations
- Witness functional and operational tests, checkouts, and adjustments of aircraft radios and navigational instruments
- Perform dimensional and functional inspections of aircraft electrical systems, flight control systems, and sub-components to determine airworthiness
- Conduct in-process inspections of backshop outputs (electrical, manufacturing, paint, composites) to determine serviceability for installation
- Inspect aluminium, titanium, and steel airframe structures for cracks, corrosion, damage, and proper assembly; quarantine non-conforming components
- Verify aircraft wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical terminations against design drawings
- Conduct receiving and hidden damage inspections of airframe structures and sub-assemblies
- Ensure proper tagging, documentation, and airworthiness of all parts released to airframe, engines, and accessories
- Ensure all aircraft articles carry required documentation (e.g., 8130-3, EASA Form 1, TCCA Form 1, Certificate of Conformance)
- Support application for TCCA Aircraft Marks, Registration, Flight Permits, and Certificate of Airworthiness
Quality Management System (QMS) Support
- Act as quality liaison for customer and technical support with respect to aircraft records
- Support internal and external audit programs to fulfil regulatory requirements
- Manage incident handling and non-conformance tracking via QMS tools (ISIR, QN, QIR, NCM)
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence; identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Support KPI measurement and reporting using SAP; communicate process improvement solutions to senior leadership
- Coach and train technicians on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and the impact of human factors on aircraft quality
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aviation, Engineering, or equivalent — preferred but not required
- TCCA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License — required
Experience
- 7–10 years of quality inspection experience on aircraft components and systems
- Helicopter experience — strongly preferred; candidates with fixed-wing-only backgrounds are unlikely to be considered
- In lieu of degree: 15 years of combined experience in Quality Assurance and/or as a certificated AMT/AME
- Client H125, H130, or H135 type rating is an asset (training available for the right candidate)
- Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documentation including engineering drawings and test specifications
- Familiarity with precision inspection tools, aids, and devices for determining tolerances and specification limits
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interface with customers at aircraft delivery
- Experience with TCCA CAR 571/573 compliance and return-to-service procedures
- Ability to work across multiple areas and adapt to shifting inspection schedules

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90,000 and CA$120,000
