SAP Business Objects Data Services Development specialist
Our Client in the municipal sector has launched a major business transformation of its financial system, driven by the implementation of SAP S4/HANA to enable future-state processes. Modules that are involved in this transformation include Finance and Controlling, Funds Management, Grants Management, Asset Accounting, Project Systems, Treasury and Risk Management, Cash Management, Logistics and Sales and Distribution. The Client has completed high-level design workshops with our stakeholder in the functional areas impacted by the project.
The SAP Business Objects Data Services Development specialists will complement the Client’s existing Data team. The development specialists will work closely with the FSTP Data Lead as well as the project’s business teams and Vendor Data team to execute the work stream tasks.
Assignment Duties
The SAP Business Objects Data Services Development specialists will be responsible to;
• Develop data quality solutions using SAP Information Steward (IS) to profile, assess, cleanse, standardize, enhance, match & consolidate data.
• Analyze business requirements and functional specifications to understand and provide logical model and Data Services (DS) technical specifications.
• Coordinate with the business and technical users to ensure DS (Data Services) and IS (Information Steward) policies and procedures are adhered to by application users and interfacing applications.
• Perform data quality and integration (ETL) design, development, testing to ensure applications meet the needs of the business and compliant to SAP SDLC best practices.
• Transport any changes (using Solution Manager ? Request Management or Central Repository) from development to test systems and production.
• Identify and evaluate project requirements, analyze and recommend feasible options, design, develop and/or acquire, test, and implement applications to ensure solution is sustainable and meets business objectives and client needs.
• Debug and Trouble?shoot connectivity issues to Source, target or any middle layer involved like API (application programming interface, etc.).
• Provide knowledge of SAP best/leading practices for SAP Data Services transforms.
• Coach and mentor Client staff in the areas of Data Services and Information Steward.
• Knowledge and skills transfer with documentation to the staff.
Qualifications
• Experience in ETL implementation projects as SAP Data Services (DS) Developer role in large?scale SAP or Non?Sap project implementations, covering the full project lifecycle as defined in ASAP or agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Experience in metadata management and data lineage.
• University/Community College degree in Computer Science / Electronic Engineering or equivalent a definite asset. Certification in Software Quality Engineering or equivalent a definite asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Technical Capabilities
• At least 3 years of ETL/data migration experience with SAP Data Services.
• Experience in data integration design and development, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting using SAP DS v4.x from diverse data sources (e.g. SAP, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, etc.) into SAP and non-SAP targets.
• Good technical knowledge of SAP (RFC, BAPI, IDOC, LSMW)
• Strong technical skills on performance improvement using SAP Data Services.
• Experience in SQL (Structured Query Language) to write data integration scripts and provide data analysis looking to set up and run analytical queries.
• SAP Data Services certification is an asset.

4.0 Deliverables
The SAP Data Services Developer on a data migration project plays a key role in designing, developing, and deploying the data migration process using SAP Data Services (aka BODS). Here are the deliverables for this role on this project:
1. Strategy and Planning: Data mapping and creating a migration roadmap.
2. Data Mapping: Specifying source-to-target data mappings and transformation logic.
3. ETL Development: Designing and building SAP Data Services jobs for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
4. Data Validation: Implementing data quality checks, validation rules, and reconciliation reports to ensure accurate migration.
5. Performance Optimization: Tuning ETL processes for efficiency and handling large data sets with parallel processing.
6. Execution: Managing job scheduling, monitoring, and batch processing during migration.
7. Documentation: Providing technical documentation, including transformation rules, job design, and user guides.
8. Post-Migration Support: Addressing any issues, verifying data integrity, and ensuring successful sign-off.
9. Handover: Conducting knowledge transfer sessions and preparing operational documentation for ongoing support.
