Job Title: SAP Functional Consultant (Payroll)
Duration: 6 months +
Location: Toronto

Our client in the public sector is looking for a SAP payroll and benefits certified consultant with extensive knowledge and experience in SAP Payroll modules, including configuration, integration and best practices for both SAP ECC and S/4HANA, to be part of the our client’s implementation team on the Payroll Modernization Project.
Duties
The following are the expected services, but not limited to:

  • Implementation Oversight: Review and validate the Systems Integrator’s implementation approach and deliverables to ensure compliance with SAP standards and best practices.
  • Best Practice Guidance: Provide guidance on implementing SAP Payroll Control Centre, leveraging Fiori apps for ESS/MSS, and optimizing processes for the lift & shift from ECC to S/4HANA.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks, audits, and reviews throughout the project lifecycle to mitigate risks and ensure the solution meets functional and technical requirements.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with internal teams to ensure they are prepared to support and maintain the SAP Payroll solution post-implementation.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation, reports, and presentations for project status updates, issues resolution, and knowledge sharing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the SAP Payroll module and related areas.
  • Compliance and Legal Requirements: Ensure that the implemented payroll solution complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline. 
  • Extensive experience in the implementation, configurations, and support of SAP Payroll module, Time Management and/or SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, SuccessFactors Time Tracking functional modules including personnel calculation and schema rules, Collective Agreements (unions), wage types, CATS, Time Recording, Time Evaluation, Employee Self-Serve/Manager Self-Serve (ESS/MSS) and Fiori Apps. 
  • SAP certification and extensive experience with SAP Payroll module, with at least 5 end-to-end implementations and 15+ years’ experience in the module. 
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain the system and operational integrity including ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and corporate policies of solutions /
  • applications related to SAP Payroll and Time Management, SuccessFactors, and Fiori.
  • Proficient in SAP Payroll configuration tools, such as the Payroll Control Center (PCC), Wage Types, and Personnel Calculation Rules (PCR).
  • Proficient in Employee Self-Service / Manager Self-Service (ESS / MSS).
  • Experience in implementing and supporting SAP Payroll solutions, including end-to-end project lifecycle.
  • Ability to analyse complex payroll requirements and design appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to document business requirements, processes, and any other required documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve system issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of SAP S/4 / ECC 6.0.
  • Demonstrated experience with the above tools and technologies is backed by professional certification.
  • Working knowledge of Solution Manager Change Request Management
  • 7.2 is an asset.
  • Familiarity with integration between SAP Payroll and external systems, such as time and attendance, is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies such as SAP Activate and/or PMBOK (PMP is an asset)
  • Strong understanding of business processes, accounting principles, systems configuration, enhancements, and data or enables related processes
Deliverables
1.    Project Preparation 
•    Participate in workshops with the business and IT teams as a Subject Matter Expert to develop the As-Is document and To?Be solution following best practices and standard SAP business processes. 
2.    Project Planning & Onboarding 
•    Participation in project kickoff and on-boarding sessions. 
•    Review and validation of the Payroll project plan proposed by the Project Manager, including milestones and dependencies. 
•    Initial assessment of current Payroll processes and readiness for the lift & shift to S/4HANA from ECC. 
2.    Solution Design & Best Practices Review 
•    Review and validation of the Systems Integrator’s design documents (Blueprints, Functional Specifications, Technical Specifications). 
•    Provide recommendations on SAP Payroll best practices and standard functionality as the subject matter expert. 
•    Guidance on the implementation of SAP Payroll Control Centre. 
•    Assessment of integration touchpoints (Finance, Time Management, SuccessFactors, ESS/MSS – SAP Portal, and etc). 
•    Provide documentation and consultation on SAP Payroll Control Centre functionalities and best practices. 
3.    Quality Assurance & Compliance 
•    Conduct periodic reviews of system configuration and business processes. 
•    Work closely with the System Integrator in data conversion / migration / loading / cleansing / extract and validation activities. 
•    Validate that payroll calculations, tax configurations, and compliance requirements are met. 
•    Provide gap analysis and risk assessment reports with mitigation strategies. 
4.    Testing & Issue Resolution 
•    Support the creation of test cases and test scripts for payroll processes. 
•    Validate unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) results. 
•    Provide recommendations for defect resolution and ensure alignment with SAP standard functionality. 
5.    Cutover & Go-Live Support 
•    Assist in the development of cutover plans and payroll parallel testing strategies. 

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$85.00 and CA$110.00
