SAP HCM Functional Consultant (SAP HR Portal ESS MSS Consultant)
Description of Assignment
Our client in the public sector currently uses SAP ECC ERP HCM for payroll management. Employees use ESS, and managers use the MSS portal to manage their respective forms. These forms include lieu time payout, vacation payout, etc. Once the employee submits the forms, a workflow notification is sent to the employee’s supervisor for approval. The supervisor/ Manager logs in to the MSS portal to approve the employee’s request. All employee data is stored in SAP HCM modules and processed in ECC payroll.
Duties
    • Documenting ESS/MSS portal’s administration and customizations
    • Documenting ECC HCM configurations
    • Documenting HCM Processes and Forms
    • Documenting Adobe Forms configurations
    • Documenting integrations between ESS/MSS and ECC HCM
    • Documenting Customizations with services and ESS/MSS portlets
    • Documenting Roles and permissions
    • Documenting eTime and Substitutes
    • Documenting ESS/MSS Workflows
    • Understanding of WebDynpro for ABAP /Java
    • Documentation of technical and functional specification
    • Participate in the Production issues intake process, analyzing the production issue, troubleshooting the issues and applying the fixes.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. SAP Enterprise Portal Administration and Customization – Proficiency in configuring and managing the SAP Enterprise Portal, including setting up roles, navigation, and user interfaces. Proficiency in managing and customizing portal content, including HCM Forms, iViews, Worksets, Roles, Adobe Forms, ESS/ MSS portlets, Workflows.
  2. SAP HCM Modules – Proficiency in configuring SAP HCM modules, including Organizational Management (OM), Personnel Administration (PA), Time Management (TM), Payroll.
  3. Payroll Configuration – Expertise in configuring payroll processes, including wage types, payroll schemas, and tax calculations. Knowledge of how to execute payroll runs, including simulation, actual payroll processing, and post-payroll activities, Benefits Administration, Time and Attendance Management. for Canada Payroll.
  4. Documentation Skills – Experience in reverse engineering the SAP HCM solutions, documenting the functional specification for the HCM configurations
  5. Development Knowledge – Basic knowledge of ABAP, SAP Fiori, Integration & Middleware tools, Java and WebDynpro. Ability to work with ABAP developers to document custom payroll functionalities.
  6. Communication – Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, gather requirements, and explain complex technical concepts in an understandable manner.
  7. Problem-solving – Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, optimize solutions, and address business requirements effectively. Precision in configuring and documenting HR processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Deliverables

  1. Document AS-IS solution of ESS/ MSS, enterprise portal, and produce specification documents.
  2. Document AS-IS solution of PA, OM, Payroll and Benefits and produce specification documents.
  3. Configure ESS/MSS, SAP HCM modules as required.
  4. Execute various types of technical tests (unit, functional, integration, system, regression, penetration, performance and user acceptance testing);
  5. Analyze results and creating reports for Management as needed;
  6. Track problems, defects and issues within a large project;
  7. Assure the quality of software delivered by the team

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$100.00 and CA$110.00
