SAP System Administration Specialist
Assignment
Our client in the public sector has launched a major business transformation of its financial system, driven by the implementation of SAP S4/HANA solution to enable future state processes. The project is in the Deploy phase.
The SAP System Administration Specialist will support the BASIS team as the project prepares for go-live and the hyper-care period.
Assignment Duties
• Implement and support Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions using SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS/IPS) and enterprise directory services such as Microsoft Entra ID.
• Administer and maintain SAP systems across cloud (public/private) IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments, including on-prem and hybrid deployments.
• Support and administer SAP Cloud ALM for system health, integration monitoring, testing, and change lifecycle.
• Support integration between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, Fieldglass, Concur, and other 3rd party systems using SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration and API Management).
• Configure and support SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services including:
o Subaccount management, entitlements, and trust configuration o Build Apps, Build Process Automation o SAP Datasphere for data integration and modeling o SAP Analytics Cloud for business reporting and planning
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and system monitoring for large and complex SAP landscapes.
• Manage SAP system administration tasks in Linux/Unix environments, including scripting, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Configure and support SAP Fiori Launchpad and SAP Gateway for S/4HANA.
• Collaborate with SAP Security to implement SAP GRC Access Control (e.g., role management, firefighter access, SoD analysis).
• Ensure logging and audit readiness through proactive monitoring and system traceability.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Extensive experience as an SAP System Administrator supporting enterprise-wide SAP deployments.
a. 3 years of hands-on experience in an S/4 HANA environment
2. SAP Certification in System Administration (SAP HANA as a Database) and Business Technology Platform required.
3. Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of:
a. SAP S/4HANA
b. SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) including Cloud
Integration & API Management
c. SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Cloud Identity Services
(IAS/IPS)
d. SAP Build Apps, Build Process Automation
e. SAP BusinessObjects BI, BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS),
SAP BW Suite on HANA, SAP Enterprise Portal
4. Proven experience managing SAP HANA databases, including backup/recovery, high availability, and performance optimization.
5. Strong knowledge of SAP GRC tools and integration of access control processes.
6. Familiarity with modern API integration, OData services, and OAuth/SAML based authentication mechanisms.
7. Strong experience with SAP Cloud ALM, especially for monitoring, testing, and alerting.
8. Solid understanding of SAP change management and lifecycle management practices.
9. Knowledge of user and authorization concepts and security auditing.
10. Strong test planning and execution experience (unit, integration, performance, UAT).
11. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Deliverables:
1. Cutover Support & SME Role
? Participate in Go-Live cutover activities in a supporting capacity, providing SME expertise for SAP Basis, BTP, and integration-related components.
? Monitor key systems (S/4HANA, BTP, Cloud ALM) during cutover to identify and advise on potential risks or issues.
? Provide real-time troubleshooting support for critical incidents impacting cutover timelines.
? Advise project resources executing cutover tasks on best practices and technical options for issue resolution.
2. SAP Cloud ALM Setup & Monitoring
? Implement SAP Cloud ALM for system health, integration monitoring, and alerting for S/4HANA, BTP Integration Suite, and connected applications.
? Configure Integration & Exception Monitoring in Cloud ALM for all Go-Live critical interfaces.
? Set up Business Process Monitoring for key financial processes in S/4HANA.
? Define and enable alert notifications and escalation procedures.
? Document monitoring configuration and operational handover procedures for post-Go-Live support.
3. BTP Integration Suite Support
? Maintain and troubleshoot BTP Cloud Integration and API Management during hypercare.
? Monitor message queues and processing times via BTP and Cloud ALM dashboards.
? Coordinate with integration teams for incident resolution and performance optimization.
4. S/4HANA Technical Administration
? Monitor and tune SAP HANA database performance (memory, CPU, disk usage) during hypercare.
? Support troubleshooting of Fiori Launchpad and SAP Gateway issues.
? Provide technical recommendations for emergency fixes and parameter adjustments as required.
5. Performance & Capacity Management
? Track and report on system KPIs (dialog response times, background job runtimes, database performance).
? Perform proactive capacity checks for S/4HANA application and database layers.
? Recommend system scaling or optimization actions based on usage trends.
6. Knowledge Transfer & Transition Support
? Review and validate knowledge transfer (KT) documents provided by Deloitte for S/4HANA, BTP, and integration support.
? Provide feedback on KT content to ensure accuracy, completeness, and operational readiness.
? Support the Client’s technical teams during the transition to S/4HANA and BTP, assisting with process adoption and troubleshooting during early stages of production support.
? Ensure key technical runbooks, escalation procedures, and monitoring guides are understood by Client’s staff before transition.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$95.00
