Location: Markham, ON (Hybrid)

Project Scheduler – Major Industrial / Nuclear Projects

A client within the power and heavy industrial sector is currently seeking a Project Scheduler to support large-scale project execution activities within a regulated operating environment. This individual will play a key role in schedule development, progress tracking, forecasting, and project controls coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.

The position is best suited for candidates who have supported complex capital projects involving engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, maintenance, or outage execution.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work arrangement with periodic in-office expectations

  • Increased on-site presence may be required during outage or execution windows

  • Standard 40-hour work week with potential overtime depending on project phase

  • Limited domestic travel may be required

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian nuclear security clearance

Position Overview

The Project Scheduler will support integrated project scheduling activities across multiple project functions including engineering, construction, procurement, commissioning, and project controls. The successful candidate will work closely with project leadership and execution teams to maintain accurate schedules, monitor performance, identify risks, and support recovery planning efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Maintenance

  • Build and maintain integrated project schedules for complex industrial projects

  • Coordinate schedule inputs from engineering, procurement, field execution, commissioning, and project controls groups

  • Update schedule progress and ensure alignment with approved project milestones and execution plans

  • Monitor schedule health, critical path activities, float consumption, and sequencing impacts

Project Controls & Reporting

  • Support schedule forecasting, recovery planning, and scenario analysis activities

  • Assist with progress measurement, resource loading, and project performance reporting

  • Participate in schedule reviews and provide updates to project stakeholders and leadership teams

  • Help track schedule and cost performance metrics in coordination with broader project controls functions

  • Support baseline updates, schedule revisions, and change management processes

Risk & Performance Analysis

  • Identify schedule risks, execution constraints, and potential delays

  • Assist teams in evaluating mitigation strategies and recovery opportunities

  • Analyze schedule trends and support forecasting activities related to major project milestones

  • Contribute to integrated reporting tied to project execution performance

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work closely with cross-functional project teams in a structured project environment

  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, commissioning, and operations personnel

  • Support communication of schedule impacts, priorities, and mitigation plans across stakeholders

  • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and execution reviews

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience supporting scheduling activities on large capital or industrial projects

  • Prior exposure to nuclear, power generation, utilities, infrastructure, energy, or other highly regulated sectors is preferred

  • Strong proficiency with Primavera P6; additional experience with Microsoft Project is considered beneficial

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Critical path scheduling

    • Resource loading and progress tracking

    • Forecasting and schedule analysis

    • Integrated project controls environments

    • Performance measurement and reporting concepts

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities

  • Ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting nuclear refurbishment, maintenance, modification, construction, or decommissioning activities within Canada

  • Familiarity with EPC or EPCM project delivery environments

  • Exposure to earned value management, performance metrics, or project controls reporting

  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP, or AACE credentials are considered assets

Interview Process

  • Two-stage virtual interview process

  • Video participation required during interviews

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$60.00
